70 between Springerville and the New Mexico line. This is one of the routes traveled by tourists coming- into that scenic section of Arizona, in the vicinity of the Blue mountains. Many of them turn south at Springerville, and make the trip over the Coronado trail, while others continue west through the White mountains by way of McNary and Rice. As the road is improved it Is expected it will become a popular one with summer tourists who come west by way of the central route through New Mexico. The work authorized by the state highway commission is the grading-and draining of 15.272 miles of road and will furnish a fine route for the entire distance, as it will connect with the road leading into New Mexico.

The total contract calls for an expenditure of $133,078.57. Estimates show that this work will be about 37 per cent completed at the end of the year, with pavements amounting to $49,239.07 authorized by the construction engineer.
