She was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Pio Abessinio.

She was also predeceased by her brother Gino Abessinio. Carmelo is survived by her mother Dolores Abessino with whom she lived. She is also survived by her siblings, Rocco Abessinio (Mary) of Boca Raton, FL, Marie Rogers of Clifton Park, NY, Joseph Abessinio of Claymont, DE and Rita Abessinio of Washington, DC. Other survivors are her nieces, Mardee Cool (Michael), Angela Abessinio, Joanne Fabrizio (Matt) and nephews, Eric Rogers (Kimberly), Peter Abessinio (Kristen), Vincent Abessinio (Jennifer) and Michael Abessinio (Paula). Carmela attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Wilmington High School, class of 1960, and spent many years workin in her luncheonette.

She was a caring person who enjoyed writing poetry and watching her favorite show, Jeopardy, getting most of the answers right. Funeral arrangements are private. Bonvetti, known to many as passed away early on October 27, 2014 at his home in Vero Beach, Florida. He was 87 years of age. Born May 9, 1927, in Wilmington, he served in the U.S. Army in WWII, and then enjoyed a long career as a carpenter and custom home builder. Duke was a longtime member of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and was a Past Exalted Ruler, named Elk of the Year in at Lodge 307 in Wilmington, DE.

He was also a former member of the John Basilone Lodge of the Order of the Sons of Italy. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Theresa M. (nee Bonvetti; 5 children, Kathleen Hartman (Dennis) of The Villages, FL, Marie Grieves (Philip) of Portsmouth, England, Anthony J. Bonvetti, Jr. (Vicki) of Bear, DE, Angeline Bonvetti of Vero Beach, FL, and Joseph Bonvetti (Tracie) of Pennsville, NJ; 12 grandchildren as well as 12 great- grandchildren; and his younger brother, Dominic Bonvetti of Wilmington, DE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont Sts in Wilmington, on Monday morning, November 3 at 11am. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Joseph (JoJo) Ciconte passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 25 while attending his 50th Dental School reunion in Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born December 28, 1938 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Josephine (Abbie) and Joseph J. Ciconte. He attended the Sacred Heart School, Sales ianum High School (class of 1956 and the then LaSalle College. Later he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School in 1964.

Thereafter, he began a long and distinguished military career. His rst assignment was in Panama where he met the love of his life Edilma (Edy) Blaitry. They were married in 1966 and were seldom apart other than his tour of duty in Vietnam. As a result of his service in Vietnam he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in a Viet Cong attack on the 6th Convalescent Center at Cam Ranh Bay in August, 1969. Upon his return to the US Joe was stationed at Walter Reed Army Hospital where he completed a 2 year residency in his chosen specialty, Prosthodontics.

Joe and Edy spent 25 years in the Army which became their second family. They were stationed at many posts throughout the US and Germany. Until his death Joe remained close to numerous members of his Army They enjoyed world- wide traveling and the many adventures that came with it. He once entered an arena in front of thousands in Central America to engage in a ght. Lt.

Colonel Ciconte retired from the Army as Dental Clinic Chief at Ft. Dix, NJ and was awarded the prestigious Legion of Merit, a military decoration that is awarded for exceptionally meri torious conduct in the performance of outstandin services and achievements. Following his Army retirement in 1989, Lt. Colonel Ciconte practiced his specialty in New Jersey and for a time as a contract dentist to the Delaware prison system. He retired from private practice 8 years ago.

Every family has a favorite uncle and was clearly that individual to his numerous nieces, nephews and their children. Everyone looked forward to his visits especially during the holidays. He had a mischievous smile that lit up the room whenever he entered. He will be greatly missed by his family and childhood friends from 8th and Rodney Streets in Wilmington. In addition to Edy, his loving wife of 48 years, Joe is survived by his sister Anita Dauphin (Charles), his brother Edward (Diane) and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday November 7th at 11AM at Sacred Heart Church, 260 High Mt. Holly. Interment will follow the mass with full military honors in Brig. General William C. Veterans Memorial Home, Arneytown.

JOSEPH A. CICONTE, D.D.S., LT. COLONEL RETIRED US ARMY MOUNT HOLLY, NJ Passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Heartland Hospice House with her childhood sweetheart and loving husband of sixteen years, Barry, holding her hand. Born in Wilmington, DE, Elva was the daughter of Henry and Louise (Setting) Samsel. Elva loved going to the beach, especially Pot Nets, taking walks, sitting on the front porch with Barry and listening to the wind chimes, bird watching, and Friday trips to Delaware Park.

She was also blessed and grateful to be able to enjoy special time with her beautiful granddaughter, Hayden. She was predeceased by her rst husband, Alec Tortella, and her brother, Allen Samsel. Elva will be dearly missed by her husband, Barry Coverdale; her children, Albert Tortella and Kristin of Millsboro, DE, Louis Tortella Sr. of Newark, DE and Louise Tortella and her partner Andrea of Millsboro, DE; and her parents, Henry and Louise Samsel of North Wilmington, DE. Also surviving are her grandchil- dren, Louis Tortella Jr.

and Hayden Tortella; her brothers, Dave and Eddie Samsel; her step children, Kevin and Chelsea Coverdale, her nieces Sandy and Elva Samsel, and many loving family members including Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews, and her beloved dog, Betty. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Jamal G. Misleh and the entire nursing staff on Floor 3400 of the Helen Graham Cancer Center and Delaware and Heartland Hospices for their compassionate care.
