THE NEWS JOURNALdelawareonline.com A13 Margaret M. (Hartlove) Culley, 98, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Margaret was born in Wilmington on September 11, 1916, daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Bentz) Hartlove. A graduate of Ursuline Academy, she attended Goldey-Beacom College and was employed with Department Store for many years. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and loved spending time at the beach.

Her greatest oy was spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly. Her husband of 41 years, Clarence D. Culley, passed away on November 11, 1981. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Madeline Tib- bitt, Rev. Walter J.

Hartlove, OSFS and Dolores Bricka. Margaret is survived by her daughters, Barbara Alisa (Henry), Patricia Darwicki (Joe) and Margaret Babiarz (Ray); her grandchildren, Karen Alisa Truitt, Tricia Wolfe (Sean), Stephanie Hanson (James), Amy Brelick (Michael), Jason Babiarz (Claudia) and Samantha Babiarz; and her great grandchildren, Brandon, Makenzie, Michael, Tristan, Zachary and Julia. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Gilpin Hall for their care and compassion durin brief stay. CULLEY AGE: 98 WILMINGTON Alvin James Flint, age 89, of Lancaster, PA, formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away on December 29, 2014 at Arbor View located at Willow Valley in Lancaster. Alvin was born and raised in Gloversville, NY.

He graduated from Baldwin Wallace College in 1948 with a degree in Chemistry. He was a WWII Veteran who served as an in the U.S. Navy. Alvin began working as a teacher in Ohio. He then worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Newark, OH before relocating to Wilmington with Atlas Chemical.

Alvin retired from ICI as the Supervisor of the Physical Testing Lab after 27 years of service. While he was employed with ICI, Alvin served on several ASTM committees and with the ISO. He enjoyed singing in the choir, traveling and completing puzzles. Alvin was preceded in death by his wife Gerry and oldest son Danny. He is survived by his wife Vio- let of Lancaster; daughter Sandy Zimmer of Wilmington; daughter Sharon Nickles (Mord) of Philadelphia; daughter Gretchen Hodgson (Jeff) of Wilmington; daughter Janna Vandergrift (Rich) of Wilmington; son David Flint of Fort Lauderdale, FL; son Thomas Flint (Fran) of Newark; step-son Bob Simmons (Cathy) of Wilmington; step-daughter Alice Olphant (Jay) of VA; 14 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday January 3, 2015 at Shellburne Bible Church where friends may visit from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Interment will be private. Anthony was born in Wilmington, DE on August 14, 1919, son of the late Joseph and Anna (Chickadel) Fidanza.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy durin WWII. He worked in hardwood for Dominic A. DiFebo Sons, Inc. for over 40 years, and had previously been employed by Standard Wine and Spirits as well as Cavaliers Country Club.

A member of the Quiet Birdmen, Anthony had owned a Cessna Apache airplane that he joyously ew on weekends. He also had a passion for duck carving. Anthony is survived by his son, Anthony V. Fidance Jr. (Michelle) and his mother Margaret (Rinaldi) Fidance; longtime companion, Patricia Gilliand; and dear friend, Sonny Kisiclewski.

FIDANCE, SR. Of Montgomery Village, MD, formerly of Wilmington, passed away at her home on Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Gert was the daughter of the late Frederick and Gertrude Hick.

She was a 1952 graduate of NYS College in Buffalo and taught from 1952 to 1960 in New York. She married William Geisz in 1960 and was with him for 54 years until his death in March. Gert was an avid swimmer and taught adult swimming for New Castle County for many years. She was a member of St. John the Beloved Church.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Wiley and her children, John, Peter, Jim and Catherine. She also had many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Monday, January 5th at 11 AM where friends are invited to visitation after 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

Born and raised in Delaware, John was the youngest of nine siblings born to the late Phillipe and Patricia Gambacorta. He had lived in only two different homes throughout his life.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, he served his country honorable during WWII. He went on to work as a machinist for the railroad. John loved gardening, listening to Country music and Frank Sinatra, and dancing. When younger, he enjoyed making wine with his father.

His hobbies included softball, bocce ball, and John had always loved animals, notably cats and dogs, and had at one time raised poultry in his backyard. His family and friends would describe him as a person that mellowed with age that was giving, kind, and generous. John was predeceased by his wife, Dolores (Pulcinella), and son, Ronald. He is survived by his children, John (Sue), Richard, Linda Marra (Joe), and Kathleen Petrillo; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. GAMBACORTA, SR. Louvonne Garey Knox- Tigani of Lewes, DE, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014 in the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE.

She was born on June 3, 1923 in Wilmington, DE to the late Frank and Louise Garey. Bonnie graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1941 and attended Goldie- Beacom School of Business. During WWII, she volunteered for the Red Cross. Following the war, she was employed by Hercules Powder Company. She married the late George B.

Knox in 1946 and later married the late James V. Tigani. Bonnie enjoyed going to the beach, water sports, baseball and was an avid football fan, especially of the Philadelphia Eagles. She lived every day to the fullest and lived independently up until her days. Bonnie was a devoted mother, stay- at-home mom and simply put a beautiful person.

She made friends wherever she went and was loved by many. She is survived by her three children, Bobby Knox (Judy) of Berlin, MD, Richard Knox (Marti) of New Port Ritchie, FL, and Barbara Salandria (Gary) of Mickleton, NJ; her seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, Bonnie was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Knox Moore; her brother Gerard Garey; and her sister, Dorothy Hurley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at on Monday, January 5, 2015 at St. Joseph on the Brandywine, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville, DE 19807, where family and friends may visit beginning at Burial will take place in the adjoining cemetery.

Kubasek passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital on December 31, 2014 surrounded by her family. She worked for many years at Penn Bantam Market in Newport. Dolores was a member of St.

John the Beloved Church for the past six years. She enjoyed going out to breakfast at Newport and Restaurants and also watching the Lawrence Welk Show. Nancy was devoted to Brandywine Valley Baptist Church for many years and actively lived her faith by service to others. She was an avid gardener and cat lover. Locke; her nephew and his wife, Dan and Deanna Locke; and 2 grand-nieces, Rachel and Rebecca. At request, the funeral service will be held privately. NANCY E. LEWIS AGE: 82 WILMINGTON John A. McKenna passed away peacefully on December 29, 2014 at the Kutz Home after a long illness. He was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Thomas and Anna Svanberg McKenna. John was a graduate of P.S.

DuPont High School and Washington College, Chestertown, MD. He retired from Bank of Delaware as Vice-President of bank investments after 25 years. John then worked for Midland Bank, PLC as President of their bank investment subsidiary in Wilmington, DE. He enjoyed traveling, golf and especially the beach. John is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Fran Thompson McKenna, children, David McKenna, Diane Bart (Kevin), Karen Plumsky (Rick), Tracy Ruane (Robert), Tamara Cook (Jon Dash), his brother, Thomas McKenna (Jane), his grandchildren, Lindsey (Drago), R.T., Zachary, David, Summer, Tanner and great-granddaughters, Tyler and Ava and several nieces and nephews.

com. JOHN A. MCKENNA AGE: 79 WILMINGTON Mary Lee Mitchell, age 77, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 28, 2014. Born in Morrisville, VT on October 3, 1937, Mrs. Mitchell was a daughter of the late Erle J.

Morrill and Anne Miller Morrill. She was a longtime and active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Newark where she served as a Stephen minister. Both artistically and musically inclined, Mrs. Mitchell en- oyed playing classical piano. She was an avid writer and authored weekly creative stories for the Newark Senior Center.

A woman of well-rounded interests, Mrs. Mitchell liked ng and bowling in her leisure time. She was known for her gentle and compassionate nature and throughout her life, went out of her way to help those less fortunate. In her later years, Mrs. Mitchell remained active in her church and local community, where she enjoyed many friendships and also continued to play the piano and write.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Gordon Mitchell and her sister, Pat Fitts. Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her children, Jeffrey M. Mitchell, Jennifer L.

Mitchell and Julianne Petroulis; and 2 granddaughters, Ashley M. Petroulis and Elizabeth A. Petroulis. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be held privately.
