Collins were in Los Angeles last Thursday and Friday, visiting with Bill Hughes, before his departure for the Maud McB. May wood and Mrs. R. J. Fay of San Diego were calling on Palm City friends-: Sunday: Mrs.

Fay is a sister of Mrs. Margaret Powell, who is sojourning with relatives: in Oklahoma City, and who, according to-Mrs. Fay, is having a fine time there. Young Richards Lathers spen', the past weekend visiting the small sons of Mrs. Oscar Lelevier in San Diego.

The highlight of Richard's holiday was a trip to the rodeo with his hosts. Mrs. Lillian M. Olivier has been appointed on the. social committee of the San Diego branch of the League of American Pen women by the society's newly elected president, Mrs.

Dorothy Retzloff. Mrs. Lin H. Cody, acting president, Mrs. Henry Myers, secretary, and Mrs.

John Grothe, treasurer of the Palm City Woman's club were among the guests at a program and tea given by the San Diego Woman's club in their new clubhouse Tuesday. Mrs. M. Jueltzow and Mrs. McMillan and daughter have moved from San Diego to the Lawka cottage, No, 1, on June st.

The Boy Scout troop and the Friendly Indian organization of the South Bay district have joined forces in collecting old newspapers and magazines which they will sell to raise money for attendance at the summer camps-Mrs. Mary Cook, wife of Mark Cook, passed away last Friday at Paradise Valley sanitarium after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Cook was a native of Williamsport, from which place she came west after she reached maturity, living for a. number of years in Minnesota and finally landing in this locality.

She and Mr. Cook were married about 10 years ago and had made their home in Palm City. Mrs. Cook did not take an active interest in the social life of the community, but she endeared herself to many by her unobtrusive acts of kindness and charity. She was 61 years old at'the time of her death.

and Mrs. Clyde Overton, San Diego, were weekend visit ors with Mrs. Agnes Ballard, Monument. Ralph Lilley recently left for a three-month cruise to Mare Is land on the U.S S. Whitney.

Mrs. Lilley is remaining at their Palm City home during his absence. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Gregg and children, Nestor, were Mr.

Ralph Lilley, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ballard and son, Stephen. Mel Moler, 18, Nestor, was rescued from the surf at Imperial Beach last Sunday when he was overcome while swimming. J.

J. O. Morgan, Encampo, is spending the week with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Dockstader.

W. S. Phillips left Thursday for Los Angeles, where she will visit for several days. Mr. Phillips joined his wife in the "Angel City" Monday.

The date of the "brunch" given by the gym class of the Chula Vista Woman's club has been changed from May 7 tiJVIay 9, due to the county election. Miss Alice Graydon, Denver, has been visiting at the home of her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Van Orshoven, on Fourth ave Mr. and Mrs! E.

H. Stearns, Los Angeles, left Sunday after having spent several days visiting Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Cargill, Twin Oaks ave. Mrs.

G. H. Rhodes and sister, Mrs. Ed Gaifara have been called to Compton by the serious illness of their mother, Mrs. Hugo Rosendahl.

Mr. and Ralph Willis and Mr. and Mrs. it B. Re'inbach'and son, Ronald attended the opening of "Ramona" in Hemet, Saturday.

Mrs. George Sheddrick, Los Angeles, is visiting at the home of her sister and husband, Judge and Mrs. Lowell Howe, at their new home in Sweetwater Valley. Mr. and Mrs.

Lowell Davies and children will motor to Pine Valley Saturday. Mrs. Davies and children plan to remain a month at the resort. Mr. and Mrs.

Howard Copp have moved to the Anderson house on Church st. Mr. and Mrs. James who resided there have moved to San Diego. Mrs.

Minnie Redd itt will leave npxt. Thursday for her home in Barrie, Canada, after spending the winter at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. B.

Barbes. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Orshoven honored Mr. and Mrs.

Al Herney with a dinner party at their Fourth home Wednesday evening. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Herney. Mrs.

Geyer returned last Friday from Pittsburg, and New York City, where she has been visiting relatives for the past several weeks. Her mother, Mrs. H. Kurtz, Pittsburg, returned with her for an ex tended visit. Mrs.

Kurtz was quite ill for some time, but is ally improving. Mrs. Lena Moody Mr. and Mrs. H.

Johann and Mr. and Mrs. Elbert MtClendon. attended the Wednesday Night Bridge club at the home of Mrs. Maud Maywoods, in Palm City, on Wednesday evening.

Miss Ruth Mardock, Otay, and Miss Geraldine Browne of National City, and Miss Ruth Sheldon of Chula Vista, were delegates from Sweetwater high school, representing the California Scholarship Federation, which met at Pomona College," Saturday. The Otay Farm and Home department was hostess to the San Diego County Farm Home de partment, chairman meeting, at the San Diego Gas Electric building, Tuesday. Members from Otay, who attended were: Mrs. Frank Booker, Mrs. George Humphry, Mrs.

Tom Banks, Mrs-J. French and Mrs. Elbert Mc-Clendon. Mrs. Harlan Brimmage returned to her home in Los Angeles, after visiting her mother and family in Otay.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ashpi-tal and Miss Ila Haslam of Lom-ita, spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Benton.

Miss Haslem and Mrs. Ash-pital are sisters of Mrs. Benton. The visitors also brought little Johnny Benton home with them after he had spent two weeks at the Ashpital home in -Lomita. Everette Mardock tested two of his homing pigeons, which he turned loose at Pacific Beach.

The pigeons returned home suc cessfully. Miss Jessie Kersey of San Diego was a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Kersey, Tuesday evening. Betty June and Mary Lou Huddelston, were dinner guests Sunday, at the home of Mr.

and Mrs. Romey Vaders at the Otay ranch. Mrs. Randolph Robertson returned to her home in Hebeh after visiting her mother, Mrs. Rebecca Hobbs, and her sister, Mrs.

Frank Campbell in Otay. Mrs. Myrtle Finney attended the 'Business and Professional Women's club, Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Delia Gustafson in National City. The meeting was a social one, The members were dressed in schoolday costumes.

Mrs. Finney was winner of the first prize and Helen Lef-fert won second prize. The next meeting will be a business meeting. The many friends of Lem Clark, will be pleased to learn of his improved condition. He has been enjoying the visits of his friends at his home.

Mrs. A. M. Reynolds was hostess on Thursday to the Thimble club at her home. After a pleasant afternoon refreshments were served to Mrs.

and Mrs. 'Weissgerber will move to San Diego where Mr. Weissgerber is employed. Mr. and Mrs.

A. L. Duckworth will leave Saturday for a two weeks' vacation trip to Dallas, Fort Worth, Texas, and return via Carlsbad Caverns. Mrs. Duckworth is enjoying a vacation from her duties in the lunch department of the Smith Drug Store.

Rev, Charles L. Mears has arrived in Chula Vista, and is visiting his daughter, William McCausland. Mr. and Mrs. Leon A.

Mears and Mrs. McCausland's mother will arrive from Oakland this weekend- Rev. and Mrs. Mears will remain to make Chula Vista their future home. Several from Chula Vista enjoyed picnic dinners in the Cuy-camas Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Ar-thus Spencer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack King, Mr.

and Mrs. Mark Skinner were among the picnickers. They also met Mr. and Mrs. R.

Rudolph and daughter of San Diego in the park, former residents of Chula Vista, and enjoyed a visit with them. The' Rudolph family formerly owned a bakery here. Here's good news!
