We understand Dave Deal, at the Republic Couuty Cluthinif House, luis purchased the lot on the soutli side of the Bquare, east of the store reeeutly occupied by the Racket, aud as soon as spriug opens will erect a tine store room for his rapidly increasing cloth ing trade. We are pleased to such signs of prosperity in the face of the hard times, and if others will their spare cash in like manner it will lelp loosen up matters wonderfully. Why do believe tlie fitl.se statement of cotnpetitors who claim tliat our price on Hugar ie for "New Orleans" Granulated? Call and see for yoursetf. This week we quote prices on "Boutliern" Granulated, as well as the "Best" Granulated. No rents, no clerks aud strictly cash, explains our prices on All Goods.

F. M. BUSH SON. An exchange says he was an old croaker, he loved to complain, in winter of suow aud summer of rain. He growled if 'twas dry, he growled if 'twas wet; he growled when a youngster and he's still growliu' yet; hurry him otr and bury him deep, for he always grumbles awake or asleep.

Go make bis lone grave where the bumble bees bum, whore the straddle bugs straddle and the humming birds hum; where the Katydid did whaislie wanted to do aud the green boille lly used to fly where hn flew. Oliver Grittln contributed liberally toacouple of tramps recently who appealed in behalf of a poor old siek to learn afterwards that the fellows to a gang who were making their headquarters on the outskirts of the city had been there fur several weeks living on the fat of the land. The rascals were kind hearted.torthey allowed the ladies a full half day to prepare a supply for them, which they called for later. In fact they were treated so liberally that we are looking for a "card ot thanks" to publisii expressing thoir appreciation to the ladies for their eRorts in behalf of their "poor old sick father." "To say that ali were.satisfied with the lecture would be a very tame ex' preasion, indeed of the appreciiation of bis masterly effort in original wit and logic, all were ready to say that it was eecoud to no lecture they had ever listened to in Clyde, and so say we Clyde Herald, Kan. Mr. Mao Curdy will lecture in the Baptist church, Jlelleville, Tuesday evening next, Jan.

29th, at 7:30. Ad- misBiob free. The National Bank of Belleville has moved into the tine and commodious quarters recently occupied by the bank of Davis, Steele where they will be pleased to greet all of their old cus- tomera and all new ones that have busfnesa to transact in their line. Ti)e gentlemen in charge of thisinstitution have heretofore been pleiisaut, agreeable persons with whom to do busi- aesB and we have every reason to believe that moving into such flue new quarters will not change them to great extent. It will be Judge Caldwell, Dan and Charlie Caldwell Just the same, without the superfluous annex ot a but the flmiliog oountenauces of C.

P. Carstensen and J. W. Hall will be missed, as fbey will continue to hold their respective offices and do bdsiness at the old stand. HOMESEEKERS EXCURSIONS.

L.LpMAJC, Gen'l Pass, and Ticket Agent, Omaha, Neb, A sjnall blaze occurred in tiie east part ol town Tueeday morning between five aurt six o'olook, which resulted in tlie destruction of a couple of stnbles, a smoke-house, chicken- house, and lliree or four hundred pounds of meat. The meat belonged to G.

Pattisou, who was smoking it at (lie time, aud lire is said to have caught from the fire kindled in the smoke-house. One of the stables aud chiciien-iiouse were the property of Frank Uschler, who estimates hia Joss between $60 and $70, and the other belonged to A. A. Cheney, whose estimate on loss we have not learned. The buildings destroyeil were all close together, in fuct nearly adjoiuiug, but fortunately the Are was kept from spreading to anyol the.resideuees near by.

Besides tiie meat lust, Mr. Pattison lost considerable coal, garden tools aud otiier articles, as well as a large siiied piece ot akin from his nose, which latter was caused tlirough pulling a piece of board from the aicle of the burning buildings. NOTICE. Belleville, Jem. The partnership heretofore existing between A.

I. and M. Robinson, known as M. Robinson Sj- is this day dissolved by mutual M. Robinson continuing the business at the old stajid.

A. I. Robinson, M. Robinson, Warren Monette, living of town, has made a discovery that may be of scientific Importance to farmers. While out in the cornfield not long since be began examining some husks to see if chinch bugs were wintering in them.

He examined a number of husks and fouud in some the dried skiu and wings of chincli bugs but could find no live ones with these skeletons. Other husks hud live chinch bugs in them and uodead ones. On closer examination Ite fouud that lliose husks that contained tlie dead chinch bugs also contained a bug of a different sort. These other bugs are so small that they can hardly be seen with the naked eye aud are very lively. Putting these facts together Mr.

Monette has atiout concluded tiiat the mission of these little bugs is the destruction of tlie chinch bugs. The theory seems very plausible busks containing live cliinch bugs contained none of the smaller, and wherever the snialler kind were found there were no live chinch bugs. We hope a number more of our farmers will examine into tlie subject ainl report. The (lisoovory may be of News. Great Opportunity Make Money.
