100 years ago March 12, 1910 Dreamland Park has been organized at Betterton and will doubtless be a success. The Park has been leased from Col. S. H. Suplee and is beautifully situated on the bay.

The stock is selling rapidly at $1 per share, Betterton people having taken nearly 2,000 shares. Mr. W. F. Stoops, the hustling Cliffs City merchant will take charge of the Pomona store about April 1.

Capt. Chas. Kerr, Capt. Stevens, Mr. Reybold Wilson and the Messrs.

Davis, all of Rock Hall, visited Annapolis this week in the interest of the purse net bill. Congressman Covington has nominated William Rodney Price, son of John H. R. Price, of Warwick, for appointment as midshipman at the Naval Academy. Mary Emily Usilton, of Baltimore, has obtained a divorce through the Circuit Court of Kent County from George W.

Usilton, of Sandy Bottom. John D. Urie, attorney, has sold the Thompson Hotel at Gratitude, near Rock Hall to Mrs. Kate Gerhity, of Baltimore for $3250. Mrs.

Gerhity will keep an up-to-date hotel there. Messrs. Albert Rawleigh and George Gardner caught the first herring of the season on Monday Feb. 28. Several have been caught during the past week by other fishermen.

50 years ago March 11, 1960 Just about free of the grip of an 11-inch snowfall on March 2 and 3, Kent County was hit by another six-inches Wednesday night and Thursday of this week. The eight-day total was 17 inches. Awaiting further information from the State Roads Commission, Council Monday night tabled a proposal concerning electronic traffic control at the intersection of Maple, Spring and Washington avenues. Kent County had the best traffic record of any of 23 counties during January, State Police report. There were only 10 accidents here and only five injuries resulting.

Kent was one of eight counties which went through the month without an auto death. That some improvement to the upper Chester River is long overdue was indicated today in a letter from Congressman Thomas F. Johnson which shows that the last maintenance was accomplished there more than 30 years ago. Chestertown High, due to face North Caroline in the opening game of the District Four tournament here tonight, Friday, has outscored its opponents this year, 1,022 points to 881. Leading the scoring parade for the local schoolboys is Hadaway, who has registered 262 points in 20 games.

and Loretta M. Clark of Rock Hall. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James W.

Jacquette, Sr. of Rock Hall. Norris Hall was entertained at a surprise 50th birthday celebration given by his wife, Harriette and children Friday in Chestertown Fire Hall. Pinder, tank truck driver for Nuodex, recently received an award from plant manager Herman Wefelmeyer, Jr. Army Pvt. Leroy F. Black, son of Leroy F. and Evelyn F.

Black of Chestertown, has arrived for duty in Wuerzburg, West Germany. Black, an infantryman with the 3rd Infantry Division, was previously assigned at Fort Jackson, S.C. He is a 1983 graduate of Kent County High School. Bill Coleman, of Chester Harbor, established a new single series record with 524 pins Thursday at Queen Bowling Centre. Coleman surpassed the record 502 by doubles partner Bobby Walls.

Dr. and Mrs. P. David Gavin announce the birth of their second child, a daughter, Melissa Jayne, born February 4 at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C. Mrs.

Gavin is the former Jan D. Usilton is the former Laurie Sterling. Rock Hall High School Class of 1949 held its 50-year reunion Nov. 6 in the Rock Hall Firehouse. Seventeen of the 28 graduates participated in the alumni The Class of 1949 was the first graduating class to have a junior- senior prom and the last class to graduate from the 11th grade. Magnolia Hall Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Chestertown held its annual King and Queen Contest for its residents.

The King and Queen are nominated and elected by the staff. This winners are Queen, Williana Sorrell of Chestertown and King, Kenneth Baker of Millington. The King and Queen were honored at a Day Party. Pete Thomas captured a pair of gold medals and Aaron Cades, Jennifer Hackley and Amy Collyer also won gold medals in skiing to highlight the Special Olympics State Winter Games held Feb. 27-29 at the Wisp Resort in Western Maryland.
