Smith III OXFORD Charles Robinson Smith III, 59, of Oxford, MD and Jupiter, FL, died on March 23, 2015 in Palm Beach, Florida of brain cancer. Born in Annapolis, MD on May 23, 1955, Charlie spent his whole life enjoying the outdoors. As a member of the The Annapolis and Tred Avon Yacht Clubs, The Admirals Cove Club, The Palm Beach Yacht Club, and The Ocean Reef Club, he was an intrepid sailor racing with Ted Turner in 1971 and 1973 on the American Eagle. Charlie was a passionate hunter, fisherman and avid student of history.

Upon graduation from Annapolis High School, Charlie started Yacht Maintenance Company, purchasing in 1978, the former Cambridge Shipyard in Maryland, to grow Yacht Maintenance into the successful marine services facility that it is today. Charlie had an unparalleled zest for life and lived each day with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He was loyal to his family and friends and was loved by many. Charlie is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Elizabeth Fago Smith; his stepchildren Paul Walczak (Patti), Stephanie Walczak, Joseph Fago (Jamie); four step-grandchildren Abigail, Alexandra, Addison and Elizabeth; his parents, Charles R. Smith Jr.

and Ann Carr Smith; his sisters, Jane Smith Hall (Jeffrey) and Lisa Smith McCarl (Clayton); nieces and nephews Jonathan Hall, Clayton McCarl (Lindsay) and Ashley McCarl Harrison (Rachid) and Drew McCarl. Charles Ronald W. Allen BRIDGEVILLE, DEL.

Ronald Wade Allen of Bridgeville, DE passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015 in Laurel, DE. He was 48. He was born on October 21, 1966, the son of the late Daniel Oliver Allen Sr. and Bonnie Ellen Lankford Allen. Growing up in Dorchester County, Ronnie graduated from North Dorchester High School with the class of 1984.

After school, he became a truck driver and worked for Hab Nab Trucking, Estes Trucking, Black Gold Farms and recently for Amick Farms. He was married to Brenda Parsons Allen on September 12, 2008. He loved hunting, gardening, fishing NASCAR and was considered a military history buff. He was a member of the Sharptown Sons of the American Legion Post No. 218, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Allen of Mardela Springs, MD; four children, Nathan Wade Allen of Bridgeville, Jennifer and Robbie Zimmerman, both of Mardela Springs, MD, Bryant Zimmerman of Salisbury, MD; two grandchildren, Kayleigh and Kimberly, both of Mardela Springs; three siblings, Lisa Malkus and her husband Patrick of Cambridge, John Allen of Harrington, DE, and Daniel Allen Jr. and his companion Renea Eisenhour of Laurel, DE; eleven nieces and nephews, Matthew, Olivia, Dustin, Mikayla, Dylan, Devin, Doug, Dana, Alex, Courtney and Jessica; two special cousins, Donnie and Linda Allen of Seaford and several other cousins, aunts and uncles. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2 p.m. at the Sharptown Fire Company Memorial Building. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m.

Ann J. Layman ROYAL OAK Ann J. Layman of Royal Oak, MD, died at U.M.S.M.C. Easton, in the Palliative Care Unit, on Friday, March 13, 2015 with her son Allen, niece Peggy Ann, and great niece Janet McMichael at her side. She was 84.

Born July 28, 1930 at now Meba to the late Albert V. and Frances Cole Johnson of Royal Oak. After graduating from St. Michaels High School class of 1948, she went to live with her cousin, Elsie Peyton of Stanford, Conn. for two years.

She then returned home to marry Richard A. Layman of Royal Oak, on July 20, 1951. Mrs. Layman worked at the store and later Jackson Fuse Plant before joining Richard on the water oystering, crabbing and tending to soft crabs. After Mr.

death in 1996 she continued to shed and sell soft crabs through the summer of 2014. Ann was your typical Shore she loved her home, family and traveling. She took care of whatever had to be done around the soft crabs and cutting grass. She is survived by her son; Allen Layman, Royal Oak, the grandchildren she raised. Granddaughter Harley D.

Layman, Easton, Grandson Richard A. Layman II of Royal Oak. Her children Peggy Ann Thomas (Robert) from Trappe, Tina Schwickerath (Clair) from Cambridge, Mark Coleman from Trappe, Wesley Coleman (Linda) from Sevierville, TN and their families, plus many, many more who called her Aunt Ann. In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Irvin Lanyon (WWII); a sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor M. (1982) and Johnny Coleman (1967).

A casual Memorial for Ann and Richard will be held at the VFW 5118, 355 Glebe Road, Easton, MD on March 29, 1-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in honor of her, to the E.E. www.os trowskifh.com. J. Rachel B. Mayne CAMBRIDGE Rachel B. Mayne, 96, of Cambridge, MD, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at UMSMC at Dorchester.

She was born in Cambridge on May 5, 1918 and was a daughter of the late Leland and Alice LeCompte Beckwith. Mrs. Mayne graduated from Cambridge High School. She was first married to Ronald Weldon Bryan and later on November 26, 1969, she married Granville D. Mayne, who passed away on December 17, 1989.

Mrs. Mayne was a seamstress for several different shirt factories. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting, playing cards and spending time with her family. Mrs. Mayne was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and also volunteered at the Robin Hood Shop.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Robinson of Cambridge; grandchildren Julie Merrick (Steve), Marilyn Treiber (David), Fred Robinson great-grandchildren Douglas Burton Heather Meekins, TJ Meekins, Laurie Merrick, Tish Blessing, Rachel Treiber, Rebecca Treiber and Olivia Robinson; several great-great grandchildren; a brother Leland Beckwith Jr. of East New Market, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Mayne is preceded in death by two sisters Leona Aaron and Clara Spedden. Pallbearers will be Fred Robinson David Treiber, Steve Merrick, Douglas Burton TJ Merrick and Jim Duffy.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Jimmy Harper officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery.

Kenneth Cooper of Bozman, MD, passed away at Envoy of Denton on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. He was 92 years old. Mr. Cooper was born on January 12, 1923. He was the son of John W.

and Rosie Jones Cooper. On December 8, 1945, he married Kathleen Cummings and they made their home in Bozman. Mr. Cooper worked as a waterman for several years. He also worked as a groundskeeper at Aspen Cover for 54 years.

He was known in the area for model boats that he built. He started this hobby in his early twenties continuing until he was ninety years old. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Kathleen; and their daughter Jane Mason (John); two grandchildren Christa L. Mason of Fredericksburg, VA and Kenneth A. Mason (Jennifer) of Harrington DE; two great-granddaughters, Kayla R.

Mason and Cassidy M. Mason, also of Harrington DE; and one brother Wm. Gary Cooper (Jean) of Easton, MD. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by four brothers, John P.

Cooper, George O. Cooper, Thursby F. Cooper and James A. Cooper. There will be a viewing at The Ostrowski Funeral Home on Friday March 27, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2 p.m. at Bozman United Methodist Church. Interment will be at the Bozman Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Steve Cooper, Kenneth A. Mason, Christa L.

Box 34, Bozman, MD 21612. www.ostrowskifh.com. Kenneth Cooper Ellinor M. Carter CAMBRIDGE Ellinor M. Carter of Cambridge, MD, departed this life on February 16, 2015, at Easton Memorial Hospital in Easton, MD.

She was born on April 7, 1948 in Queen Anne, MD. Ellinor was an entrepreneur for many years and was very dedicated to all of her clientele. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1998 and enjoyed listening to her favorite gospel singer, Mahalia Jackson. She also enjoyed spending time with family; sharing lots of love and laughter. Ellinor is predeceased by her mother Anna M.

Johns and her father Leonard Flamer; her stepfather William Johns Jr. and her daughter Ellen Lewis. She leaves to cherish her memory two children; a daughter Anike (Allen) Shulties of Salisbury, MD and a son Darryl (Cathy) Jackson Sr. of Wilmington, DE; two brothers, Herbert Jackson of Cambridge and Charles Johns of Royal Oak; three sisters, Bessie (Howard) Cook of Denton, Rebecca (Edmund) Benson of Harrington, DE and Delores Nelson of New Castle, DE; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services are private and at the convenience of the family.

Her final resting place will be in Cheswold, DE. The family thanks everyone for all of your loving prayers, condolences and support during this time. Follow The Star Democrat at www. stardem.com Joe L. Reid Sr. EAST NEW MARKET Joe Layton Reid 76, of East New Market, MD, died Monday, March 23, 2015 at Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge. Born August 2, 1938 in Oriole, he was the son of the late Harry Powell Reid and Rachel Layton Reid.

For many years he worked in the shipping department at Coldwater Seafood, retiring in June 2000. He is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Mae Towers of Denton and Amanda Jean Hill and husband George of Crisfield; a son, Joe L. Reid Jr. of Crisfield; four grandchildren, Brittany Towers, Rachel Towers, Charles James Lewis and Shelby Marie Cullen; a brother, Louis James Reid of Fruitland; two sisters, Nellie Lawrence and husband Frances of Oriole and Nancy Johnson of Hurlock; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Carol Reid; a sister, Margaret Layfield; and brothers Tom Reid, Dick Reid and Bud Reid.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 1 p.m. at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Karen Handy will officiate. Tamya Smullen FEDERALSBURG Tamya Smullen, 52, of Federalsburg, MD, died on March 18, 2015 at her home.

Haines, a 27-year resident of Talbot County, passed away March 23, 2015, at the age 104. Born in Butler, Indiana in 1911. Mrs. Haines moved to Auburn, Indiana, following a banking career of 29 years, she retired from the Auburn State Bank in 1976 and came to Maryland to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Myrna Haines Darragh and her son-in-law, William R.

Darragh Jr. of Easton; her granddaughter, Sarah M. Rodgers and husband, Michael and their two children, Michael and Spencer Rodgers of Cumming, GA; and by her sister, Mildred Bard, of Auburn, IN. Mrs. Haines greatly enjoyed her participation in YMCA exercise classes.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Easton, YMCA. Avery L. Robinson WORTON Avery L. Robinson, 43, of Worton, MD, passed away at home on March 22, 2015. Services will be held on Saturday, March 28 at Mt.
