Ann Landers answers your problems Four police hurt in chase Dear Ann Landers: I stared In disbelief at your reply to the man who helped the little girl iu the men's room of the church recently. To refresh your memory: A little girl about 4 years old wandered into the men's bathroom and pleaded, "I have to go. Please help me." The man did help the little lady in distress and then, as he was leading her out, one of the other men berated him for having taken such a chance. "We all could have been arrested on a phony molesting charge," he said. "Don't make such a stupid mistake again." The gallant gentleman wrote to ask you if tlie guy was right.

When you backed him up I almost dropped my eyeglasses in the coffee. I am no Philadelphia lawyer but it seems to me that a man of good intentions and good character can be arrested on a molesting charge for assisting a child in a church restroom, then some of our laws need changing. It's a good thing you aren't a ballplayer, Ann. You'd be riding the bench for that DULUTH DUKE Dear Duke: When you said some of our laws need changing you weren't just clickin' your molars. Dad.

If you knew how many innocent people have spent fortunes defending themselves against phony charges, you'd drop a lot more than your glasses. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if a little girl wanders into a men's room and you happen to be in there, skip the Good Samaritan act and get her out of fast. You may be a sterling character of fine reputation but some trouble-' league again and they said someone had been night. The man they sent decided the tree was in a very dangerous spot and that he was not going to risk his life trying to get the cat down. He left without even ringing our doorbell to tell us of his decision.

I asked the man on the phone what we should do. He replied, "Wait a few days and the cat will come down by himself." He didn't say whether the cat would be dead or alive. I thmk it is just horrible that people call themselves rescuers af animals and then refuse to help an animal in distress. Please prmt my letter and your comments. A TREE Dear Up: By the time you read this reply Tuesday will have come 1 am told by a woman who works with the Anti-Cruelly League of Chicago that in her 18 years of experience she has never heard of a treed cat that didn't come down on his own- eventually.

Your sweeping accusation that animal rescue people do not bother themselves to rescue animals is unjust. I have heard and read about many who have gone to e.xtraordinary limits to save animals. (Copyright, Publishers Newspaper Syndicate) Dear Ann Landers: Two days ago our cat, Tuesday, ran up a tree and stationed himself on a branch about 15 feet from the ground. The tree is on a steep, rocky hill, which means it would not be easy to use a ladder there. The night Tuesday ran up the tree we called the animal rescue league. They said they were very busy and short-handed but that they would try to send a man in a day or so if they possibly could find somebody.
