Dewie L. Henderson WAYNESBORO Dewie Loyed Henderson, 86, of Waynesboro, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Born Aug. 13, 1928, in Charlottesville, he was the son of the late Willie Loyed and Bloomer (Mayo) Henderson. Dewie grew up in Afton, and later made his home in Waynesboro.

Dewie was an active member of Wayne Hills Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served his country honorably during the Korean conflict. He was employed by the former E.I. DuPont where he worked for 39 years as a mechanic in the Research Maintenance Department, and after 40 faithful years of being with the company, he retired.

Following his retirement, he became known as the "Pump Doctor." He developed a love for collecting antique gas pumps, globes and gas station memorabilia. He was a past member of the Waynesboro Moose Lodge and the Blue Ridge Runners Motorcycle Club. He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed fixing, riding and selling motorcycles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Selda Layton Henderson. Survivors include his loving daughter, Shirley (Henderson) Sours and husband, Gary of Waynesboro; granddaughter, Mandi (Sours) Arehart; great-granddaughter, Ella Page Arehart.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 Main with Pastor Danny Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Micah Johnson, Jerry Floyd, Bobby Gordon, Randy Teeter, Mike Smith and Fidel Ramirez. Honorary pallbearers will be Max Coble, Chuck Williams, Tim Spicer, Frank Martin and Robert Willis.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the funeral home.
