Elsie Acree Shreveport, LA A beautiful, gracious lady passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015.

Nena York was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. We loved her dearly for her sweet, always positive, sunny disposition and eternal optimism. She was the youngest in a big family, with nine brothers and sisters! Her father owned and leased acres of cotton and soy beans, but his brood lived in town a short way from the farm.

Nena loved to reminisce about her younger days in Shelby, and particularly about Pearlie, the family housekeeper, cook and friend. Nena met her husband, Sidney Dawson York, at the University of Mississippi, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and she was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity.
