Roy Lees, age 90, Pompano Beach, Florida and Port Huron died October 6, 2014 in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born in Toronto, Ontario on December 26, 1923, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lees.

He studied at the University of Western Ontario and Huron College, London, Ontario; General Theological Seminary, New York; College of Preachers, Washington. D.C. Canon Lees received his arts and theological degrees from the University of Western Ontario and Huron College. He was the recipient of the Mathew Wilson Gold Medal in Public Speaking. Canon Lees served as a Corporal in the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps and as a Captain in the Royal Canadian Army Chaplaincy Corps.

He was ordained to the diaconate of the Anglican Church of Canada in 1950 and priested in the following year at Grace Church, Brantford, Ontario. Before coming to Grace Church, Port Huron, he served as a missionary with Canadian Indians on the Muncey Indian Reserve. His last parish before coming to Port Huron was at St. Church, Elmira, Ontario and St. Church in Kitchener, Ontario.

Rev. Canon Lees came to Grace Church, Port Huron in July of 1953 as the Assistant to the Rector, The Rev. Dr. A.E. Duplan.

In 1954 he was appointed the Associate Rector and in the fall of 1958 was called by the parish to be the Rector. At the time of his retirement on December 31, 1988, he was third Rector of the parish in 98 years, and the 11th Rector since the incorporation of the parish in 1839. He will be remembered for his 35 years of dedicated service to his parish and his community. In April, 1973, The Rev. Richard S.

Emrich, Bishop of the Diocese of Michigan, appointed D. Roy Lees an Honorary Canon of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Detroit, Michigan. Rev. Canon Lees was a member of the Mercy Hospital Division Board, the Order of St.

Luke, Honorary Canon of the Cathedral Church of St. in Detroit, and Police Chaplain. He has also been Dean of the Bluewater Convocation, secretary of the Council of Churches, member of the Michigan Aid Society, member of the Family Service Agency, member of the YMCA board, president of the Noon Day Optimist Club, member of the Board of Trustees for the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan, member of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, member of the Cathedral Chapter St. Cathedral, and co-chairperson of the Stewardship Program for the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan. He married Doris Sullivan in September of 1954.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; three children, Dr. David H. (Dr. Aida) Lees, Mr. and Mrs.

Brett (Cathryn) Vance, and Dr. Thomas R. (Kim) Lees; 4 grandchildren, Lindsey (Jason) Burris, Maxwell, Taylor and Tommy Lees; two great grandsons, Cole and Sawyer Burris. He was preceded in death by two sisters, his twin, Margaret Harding, and Dorothy Harber, and a brother, Max. The Funeral Rite will take place at 11 AM Saturday at Grace Episcopal Church with The Right Reverend Todd Ousley Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Eastern Michigan presiding.

Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 6-8 PM at the Smith Family Funeral Home North, 1525 Hancock Street. There will also be visitation at church on Saturday beginning at 10 AM. She was a member of Lakeshore Presbyterian Church, Fort Gratiot. Betty enjoyed cooking, sewing and singing in the church choir. She was the beloved wife of the late Eljay Bowron and the late Harold Langrill; loving mother of Karen (Charles) Meshew, Eljay Bryce (Sandy) Bowron and the late Jackson Bowron; dear mother-in-law of Nancy Bowron; dear step-mother of Linda Langrill and Larry Langrill; loving grandmother of Christopher (Karen) Bowron, Carrie (Jamie) Montgomery, Meghann (Matthew) Gullo and Brandon (Vivian) Bowron; 6 great grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren; and 6 step-great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 828 Lapeer Port Huron, MI 48060. Elizabeth Bowron Langrill Chesterfield William Cunningham St. Clair William Cunningham, age 87, of St. Clair, died Monday October 6, 2014. He was born March 10, 1927 in Detroit to the late William T.

and Marion (Akred) Cunningham. Mr. Cunningham retired in 1989 from B.T.M. Corporation after 24 years of service. In earlier years Don along with his brother, Fred, owned and operated Superior Machine and Tool Works, a tool and die business which their father began in 1931.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Ruth; his five children, Gregory (Diane) Cunningham, Marion (Charles) Sch- weihofer, James Cunningham, Ross (Beth) Cunningham and Barbara (Dave) also his sister Nancy (Ed) Goff Canton, Michigan; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Frederick in 2011. family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff Medilodge of St. Clair and Hospice for wonderful care given to their husband, father and grandfather. Castillo, age 78, of Flint, formerly of Port Huron, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 5, 2014.

Mrs. Castillo was born September 12, 1936 in Port Huron, Michigan to parents Isidoro and Estefana Burgos. Theresa was a loving and devoted family woman. life was dedicated to caring for her husband, Rufus and eight children and several grandchildren. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

She was an avid gardener who took great pleasure in traveling, shopping and going to the casino. Theresa leaves to cherish her memory daughters Mary Adams (Jeff), Patricia Cadiuex (Richie), Ramona, Delores (Sam) all of Flint, Catherine (Doug) Strickland of Belleville, MI, Gloria (Amir) Gharib of Cairo Egypt and Rosa (Anthony) Evans of Jacksonville, FL; son Rafael also of Flint; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grand children with one more on the way; brother Jesse Burgos and sister Elisa Aguinaga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus; her parents; sister Josie; brothers Joe, Raymond and Benny; and great- granddaughter Florentina. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. He was born July 24, 1923 in Port Huron. He married Clara Marie Bagnell on June 7, 1946. She died in May of 2013. Frederick was the youngest of 11 children in his family. Frederick raised Boston Bull Terriers for 65 years and was known as the He loved planting flowers and trees and operated a hobby farm and dog kennels.

He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946 and was a member of the Marysville American Legion Post He is survived by his children, Frederick N. (Patricia) DeBell, Albert E. (Joanne) DeBell, Annette (Greg) Stoudt, and Darryl (Rollande DeBell; 21 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda E. Jex in 2005; infant great-grandson Brandon Lee DeBell in 1990 and his 10 siblings.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church with visitation one half hour before the service. The Reverend Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate.
