Browne, 57, of 7 Church Hyde Park, died yesterday at Vassar Hospital. Born i in New York City, Nov. 1, 1910, he was the son of the late George and Marion (McManus) Browne. He was graduated from St. Peter's High School.

the last 24 years, Mr. Browne has been employed in the engineering department of Hudson River State Hospital. He was also a photographer and did much work for the late Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt. He was also associated with United Press International, New York City.

A resident of Hyde Park for most of Mr. Browne formerly resided' in New York City. He was a member of the former Robin Hoods, baseball team, Hyde Park. He was a communicant of Regina Coeli Church, Hyde Park. Mr.

Browne is survived by a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Marjorie) Flannery; three nieces, the Misses Mary, Margaret and Catherine Flannery; two aunts, Miss Mildred and anda! Mrs. Helen Downs, all of Hyde Park. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from Sweet's Funeral Home, Hyde Park, and at 10 a.m.

at Regina Coeli Church where a Mass of Requiem will be offered. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock and tomorrow night from 7 to 9 o'clock. The Rosary will be recited tomorrow at 7:45 o'clock.

Sanford Cluett, Invented Process TROY, N.Y. Sanford L. Cluett inventor of the process of pre-shrinking fabrics and a vice president of Cluett, Peabody Co. Inc. a Troy based shirt manufacturer, is dead at 93.

Cluett died Saturday at his winter home in Palm Beach, Fla. He had been in failing health for some time. Funeral services will be in Palm Beach Tuesday. Cluett developed the "sanforized" process of compressive shrinkage in 1928 while in charge of engineering and research for Cluett, Peabody, his family's firm. He had served as vice president since 1927.

He leaves his widow, Camilla, three sons and a daughter. Mrs. Cavanagh, Of Germantown Mrs. Edna Cavanagh, 57, of Germantown, died yesterday in Poughkeepsie after a long illness. Born in Hudson, July 20, 1910, she was the daughter of Bert and Nellie Elting Myers.

Her husband, Peter Cavanaugh, predeceased her. Mrs. Cavanagh was a former member of the auxiliary of the American Legion in Germantown. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Rose) Lasher, LaGrangeville, Mrs.

Bertha Ahrens, Germantown, Mrs. Robert (Eleanor) Plass, Columbiaville, and Mrs. John (Edna) Mackemull, Nutley, N.J.; 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Tracy (Anna) Alexander, Hudson, and Mrs. Bertha Patchin, Sanford, and a brother, Matthew Myers, Solvay.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Yadack Funeral Home, Germantown. Burial will be in the Church of the Nativity Cemetery, Linlithgo. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. Mrs.

Smith, 78, Beacon Resident Mrs. Mary Mamie Smith, 78, of 61 Sergeant Beacon, died Saturday at the Kent Nursing Home. Born in Shenandoah, June 28, 1889, she was the daughter of Caleb and Addie Vanderbilt Knapp. Mrs. Smith had resided in Beacon for nine years, having previously resided in Fishkill Plains and Chelsea.

Mrs. Smith was a charter member of the auxiliary of the Chelsea Fire and member of Christ Methodist Church, Beacon. On Nov. 17, 1909, in Shenandoah, Mrs. Smith was married to Myron E.

Smith, who died on March 10, 1965. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert Reid, Beacon, and Mrs. Lucy Eckler, Ormond, a son, Everett Smith, Mystic, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 1 p.m, at the Robert H.

Auchmoody Funeral Home, Fishkill. The Rev. Robert Zimmer will officiate. Burial will be in Shenandoah Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

15 Die In Egypt As Crowds Seek Vision Of Virgin CAIRO (AP) -Fifteen people were trampled to death huge crowds swarmed around St. Michael's Coptic church Sunday night hoping to see a vision of the Virgin Mary, police said. The vision was reported to have appeared in one of the church windows. Mrs. Rose, 70, Milton Native Mrs.

Anna Rose, 70, died here yesterday after a long illness. Born in Milton, Feb. 15, 1898, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lansterry.

Her husband, Kenneth Rose, predeceased her in 1960. Mrs. Rose is survived by a daughter Mrs. Wayne (Darlene) Mackey, Poughkeepsie; a sister, Mrs. Mary Farley, and three grandchildren, Wayne Michelle and Cathy Ann Mackey.

Ball, In His 74th Year George A. Ball, 73, dalay Drive, Town of LaGrange, died Thursday at St. Francis Hospital after a brief illness. Born in England, Sept. 18, late Lewis Charles and Alice 1894, he was the son a of the Florence (Cardy) Ball.

He attended schools in England. In 1930, in Burmingham, England, he married the former Alma E. Gaiger, who survives. Mr. Ball owned and operated the Central Garage in Philmont from 1931 until his retirement a year ago.

A resident of 4 Mandalay Drive the past year, Mr. Ball formerly resided in Philmont. He was a member of the American Legion Post, Philmont; the Philmont Rod and Gun Club Church, Philmont. In addition to his wife, Mr. Ball is survived by a son, George Colin Ball, at home; two sisters, Mrs.

Samuel (Gladys) Gummer, Selkirk, and Mrs. Ernest Griffiths, in England; two brothers, Redvers and Bryan Ball, both in England; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wed. nesday, at Funeral 2 p.m. Home, at 74 the Haight ParAve.

The Rev. William T. Gray will officiate. Burial will be in the LaGrange Rural Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 o'clock.

Louis J. Wright, In His 79th Year Louis J. Wright, 78, Golden Apartments, Hyde Park, died yesterday after a long illness. He was born in Marlboro, June 26, 1889. He retired 10 years ago after working for 22 years as a maintenance man with Stickler Stove Appliance Poughkeepsie.

He had resided in Poughkeepsie for 60 years. On Oct. 20, 1912, in the Hedding Methodist Church, Poughkeepsie, he married the former Theresa Gusswiller, who survives. Mr. Wright was a member of the Calvary Methodist Church, East Park.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wright is survived by three daughters, Mrs. James Joyce, Staatsburg; Mrs. Arvella White, Williamsburg, and Mrs. Richard Smith, Hyde Park; four sons, Elwin, Palm Harbor, Francis, Richmond Hills, L.I., and Russell and Raymond, both Poughkeepsie: an aunt, Mrs.

Nellie Rudea, Millbrook; a niece, Mrs. Beatrice Smith, Pleasant Valley, and several grandchildren. Private funeral services will be conducted at the Darrow Funeral Home, 39 S. Hamilton tomorrow 2 p.m. The Rev.

William Vassey, minister of the Calvary Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Shapiro Takes Illinois Post SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) Samuel H. Shapiro took over today as Illinois' 34th chief executive following the formal resignation of Gov.

Otto Kerner. Kerner's last official act was to address a handwirtten letter of resignation to the peopte of 11- linois Sunday, declaring he would be "indebted forever to my fellow citizens who placed such great faith and trust in me." The transition of governors, both Democrats, became tive at midnight. W. A. Lawrence, Of Red Hook, 50 RED HOOK- -Walter Almond Lawrence, 50, of 6 Columbia died suddenly at his home yesterday.

Born in Windsor, Jan. 29, 1918, he was the son of the late John and Eliza (Mills) Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence was employed as an electrical technician by the International Business Machines Town of Poughkeepsie. On Jan.

29, 1918, he married the former Eleanor Tuttle, who survives. A resident of Red Hook three years, Mr. Lawrence formerly made his home in Roxbury, and prior to that in Kingston. He was a member the Kingston Masonic Lodge (and St. John's Episcopal Church, Barrytown.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Lawrence is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Claude Patoine, Montreal, Canada, and Mrs. Janice Rogers, Poughkeepsie: a brother, John Lawrence, Boylston, two sisters, Mrs. Earl Dunnigan, Maynard, Mass.

and Mrs. John Horne, in England; two grandsons and several nieces and I nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, Barrytown.

The Rev. Leonard F. Neils will officiate. Burial in St. John's Cemetery, Barrytown.

Mrs. Venetis, In Her 88th Year Mrs. Charles Venetis, 87, of 125 Spackenkill Road, died May 14 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck, after a long illness.

The former Miss Anna Asomatianou, she was born Oct. 21, 1880, in Plorarion, Greece, the daughter of Charles and Mary Sutirhou Asomatianou. iler husband predeceased her. Surviving are a son, Theodore Venetis, Walden; two daughters, Anthony Virgilio, Poughkeepsie, and Mrs. Rexford Teeple, Walden; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs.

Irene Venetis, Highland. The funeral took place Friday morning at the Millspaugh Funeral Home, Walden. The Rev. Philip Sakellson of St. Nicholas Church, Newburgh, officiated.

Burial was in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden. Albert L. Lutz, Pawling Native OKLAHOMA CITY Albert Lane Lutz, 69, of this city, died here in South Community Hospital on Saturday after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Lutz was born in Pawling.

N.Y., Dec. 27, 1898. A retired painter and paper hanger, he moved to Miami, in 1951 and in 1961 moved to Oklahoma City. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edna N.

Palmer Lutz, Oklahoma City; a daughter, Mrs. R. U. Harrison, Oklahoma City: a sister, Mrs. Howard Worden, Danbury, four grandchildren and a sister-inlaw, Mrs.

Fred Wilsey, Hopewell Junction. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Horn and Thomes Funeral Home, 83 E. Main Pawling. The Rev.

Moehrke, 69, of 33 S. Randolph who died unexpectedly Saturday, will be conducted Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Mr. Moehrke was Dutchess County civil service administrator for more than 37 years.

Additional survivors include a brother, Henri Moehrke, Wilmington, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Helene E. Brewer, Poughkeepsie, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Moehrke's son, Lt.

Anton Taylor Moehrke, who is serv-1 ing with the 173rd Airborne Division's Adjutant General Corps in Vietnam, is expected home tomorrow.
