are incomplete at this time. Mrs. Sheldon MILLBROOK Mrs. Marita Sheldon, 87, Millbrook, died Tuesday at Norwich. She was born July 9, 1885, in the Town of Pleasant Valley, the daughter of E.

Wright and Iantha (Crossman) Vail. The widow of Obed Sheldon, she was a member of the Lyall Federated Church, the Missionary Society of the church, the Washington Grange, the Dutchess County Historical Society, Millbrook Senior Citizens Club and the Millbrook Ambulance Corps. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Iantha Popero, Peru, and Miss Mir-! iam Sheldon, Urbana, a son, E. Vail, Sheldon, Norwich; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home Millbrook, with the Rev. Edwin Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Verbank Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight, 7 to 9 o'clock.

Thursday, April 12, 1973 Obituaries Dr. Dwight W. Chapman Dr. Dwight W. Chapman, 67, of 100 College died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home.

A professor emeritus of at Vassar lege, a member of psychology! the faculty from 1952 until his retirement in (1968. A 1927 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Harvard University, he received his doctorate there in 1930. He did additional graduate work in psychology at the University of Leipzig in 1927-28 as Sheldon Traveling Fellow of Harvard. Well known in the field of social and general experimental psychology, Dr. Chapman had a wide range of experience as a teacher and government official.

At various times he served on the faculties of Harvard, Columbia, Bennington College and the University of Michigan. In his government positions, he was associated with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Production Board, Office of Strategic Services, Department of Defense and Office of Civil Defense. Dr. Chapman also served as assistant research director for the Washington Post.

In 1955, he was elected a member of the committee on undergraduate research training of the Social Sci- Arnold Berg Arnold Berg, 78, of 306 Mill died Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Berlin, Germany, Dec. 16, 1894, the son of Abraham and Rosalie (Leiserowitz) Berg. He lived in New York for many years before coming to this area 30 years ago.

He was married to the former Dolly Peliger on Dec. 17, 1953 in New Jersey. Mr. Berg was a former bartender at the Poughkeepsie Inn and was a security guard at Luckey Platt Co. He is survived by his wife, two brothers, one sister and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p. m. at the William G. Miller Son Funeral Home, 310 Mill with the Rabbi Erwin Zimet officiating. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours. Loomis Child CHATHAM William Edwin Loomis, 3, of Chatham, died Wednesday at Albany Medical Center. He was the son of Edwin D. and Sarajane Loomis. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Karen Loomis, a at home, his paternal grandparents, Mr.

and Mrs. Delbert Loomis, Chatham; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Offenkof, Wappingers Falls, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday, at 2 p.m., at the Chatham Methodist Church.

Burial will be i in Chatham Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are under the directions of the Wenk Funeral Home, Chatham. Mrs. Bencivenga Josephine C. Bencivenga is survived by a brother, Dominic Galletta, of Brooklyn, in addition to those survivors listed previously.

Mrs. Bencivenga, a resident of White School House Road, Rhinebeck, died Monday at Northern Dutchess Hospital. The author of numerous articles and professional journals, textbooks and government publications, Dr. Chapman was a consulting editor for the psychology series of Random House Inc. and for the Journal of Abnormal and Social Psychology. He was a member of the American Psychological Association, of the Psychologists' Study of Social Issues, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He was born on June 4, 1905, the of Dwight W.

and Ethel Carpenter Chapsoca man. He was married to the former Elizabeth Bodie Chapman, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael and David, both of Poughkeepsie, and one married daughter, Judith, Washington, D.C. Private funeral services will be under the direction of the Schoonmaker Chapel, 73 S. Hamilton St.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Vassar College Chapel. Mrs.

Lorefice Mrs. Josephine Lorefice, 77, of 8 Davies Place, died unexpectedly Wednesday at Vassar Hospital. Mrs. Lorefice was a housewife, and communiof Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

She had been a local resident 62 years. The daughter of Emmanuel and Carmella (Barberi) Sammartino, she was born in Gela, Italy, Sept. 7, 1895. Mrs. Lorefice was married to the late Gaetano Lorefice, who died in 1954.

She is survived by three sons: Nicola Emmanuel and Raymond J. Lorefice, all of Poughkeepsie. One daughter survives, -Miss Genevieve Lorefice of Hollywood, Fla. Also surviving are three sisters; Mrs. F.

Liardo and Mrs. Germana Lanzone, both of Poughkeepsie, and Mrs. Stella Romano, Albany. Funeral services will be held at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 16 Grand Ave.

Saturday at 8:30 a.m., and from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 9:30. Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 7-9 o'clock, and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be said at the funeral home Friday evening at 7:30. Burial will be in St.

Peter's Cemetery. Mrs. Riedinger Mrs. Lillian M. Riedinger, 63, died Wednesday.

She was a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie and had formerly lived on Harrison Street. She was born Oct. 13, 1910, the daughter of John and Mae Williams Marshall. She was married to Howard Riedinger, who survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Carl Hill Poughkeepsie; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Skinner and Miss Margaret Marshall, both of Poughkeepsi; and Mrs.

Violet Tobin, Windsor Locks, three brothers, Thomas and John Marshall, both of Poughkeepsie, and Warren Marshall, New Jersey, and several nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be under the direction of McCornac Funeral Service, 20. Smith St. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Yesse, 83, of 25 Surrey Lane.Chelsea Apartments, Town of Wappinger, died Wednesday at: Highland Hospital, Beacon, where he had been a patient since March 27. Mr. Yesse had been a carpenter employed by the New York Central Railroad at Harmon until his retirement in 1955. He later became a carpenter and maintenance man for the Beacon School District. A former resident of, Fishkill, Mr.

Yesse was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church there. He was born in Balmville, Orange County, on Nov. 27, 1889, the son of Karl and Eva Zobel Yesse. His first wife was the former Theresa Ireland, died in 1955. In August, 1957, in Wappingers Falls he was married to the former Ella F.

Karrasck, who survives. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Lewis (Ruth) Larson, Fishkill; a stepson, Grover W. Ireland, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. John J.

(Theresa) Papo, both of Beacon; a granddaughter and a grandson. Funeral services will take place Friday at 10:15 a.m. from the Hignell Funeral Home, 10 Willow Beacon, and at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Fishkill. The Rev.

Edmund S. Matthews will officiate. Interment will be in Fishkill Rural Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
