But the brilliant, charismatic Hamilton, who became a lawyer, helped pen the Constitution and served as the country's first treasury secretary, structuring taxation and government bonds.

He eventually moved to New York, where he founded the New York Post and the Bank of New York. Starting at about 7 a.m. Saturday, Hamilton's house rolled slowly down West 141st Street, taking three hours to travel a block and a half to the northwest corner of St. Nicholas Park. There, the 206 year old structure will be secured into its third spot, overlooking the bucolic city owned park.

When Hamilton built Hamilton Grange in 1802 for his family, what he called his "sweet project" was a 33 acre country estate at the highest point of upper Manhattan, with sweeping views of the Hudson and Harlem rivers. The home was designed by architect John McComb who also created New York's City HalL The house is now part of Harlem's Hamilton Heights neighborhood of brick rowhouses, an area quickly being gentrified. Because of development, the house was initially moved in 1889. Then, it traveled a few blocks from its original site to the spot it occupied until Saturday, on Convent Avenue. Before the home is perma, nently laid into its new foundation, a hearing is set Monday in a lawsuit over how the building will be oriented in its new location. A community group filed the suit Friday against the National Park Service, which manages the historic home. The Friends of Hamilton Grange argued the front of Hamilton's home should face southwest toward the Hudson, trees and grass, as it did when he built it not toward the street, facing traffic and a building, as the Park Service planned. The group is seeking to bar the government agency completing the move unless the house looks southwest. NYPD says it plans to expand use of stun guns The Associated Press NEW YORK The NYPD is expanding its use of the Taser stun gun, an old tool in the law enforcement arsenal, but one that has seen limited use in the nation's largest police force.

Starting Wednesday, thousands of police sergeants will begin carrying electronic stun guns on their belts as part of an effort to give officers more alternatives to deadly force. The main reason for the change is newer Tasers are smaller, lighter and easier to carry in a holster than earlier models were, department spokesman Paul Browne said Saturday, The NYPD has used Tasers since 1984, but policy called for sergeants to store the stun guns in their trunkswhile patrolling, rather than strapping the weapons to their hips. "They were a little too cumbersome," Browne said. He said older lasers were about the size and weight of a large flashlight and considered unessential gear, given all the other items officers have to carry. TTie department's emergency services unit, an elite squad of about 400, men and women that has expertise in special weapons, has carried Tasers for some time, but the unit is deployed only in special circumstances.

Going forward, 3,500 uniformed sergeants and other supervisors on patrol duty will be issued Tasers to carry, along with their regular pistols, when they go out on patrol. The lasers used by the NYPD cost about $500 apiece.
