JOURNAL THURSDAY, MARCH 13, 2008 OBITUARIES 5B Fred Douglas FISHKILL Fred R. Douglas, 83, a resident of Fishkill for more than fifty years, died on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the Elant at Fishkill. Born in Newark, New Jersey on April 25, 1924, he was the son of Nathan Goldberg and Sarah Schneider. He served in the US Army during World War II and was employed as a Chemical Engineer for Texaco Research in Glenham. He was a member of the American Association of Cost Engineers, the Chorus, the American Chemical Society and Who's Who in America.

On March 20, 1954 in New York City, he married Lenore Berger who survives at home. He is also survived by his sons, David N. Douglas of Beacon and Neil R. Douglas of Hawaii; grandsons, Jason and Jesse Douglas; and his sister, Lillian Grossof Florida. Services will be private, Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.

Kisch, 87, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, died March 10, 2008 at River Valley Care Center.

He had been a truck driver for Feuer's Transportation in Poughkeepsie, retiring in 1980." He served in the US Army during World War II. He was' a member of Local 445 Teamsters Union, Newburgh and attended St. Joseph's Church in Poughkeepsie. Born May 17, 1920 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Charles and Gertrude Weller Kisch. On June 20, 1942 at St.

Joseph's Church, Poughkeepsie, he married Madalene Slizewski. Mrs. Kisch survives at home. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Joseph Kisch and his wife, Elizabeth, Poughkeepsie and William Kisch and his wife, Jeanne, Melbourne, FL; three daughters, Patricia Sammarco, Poughkeepsie, Therese Burns and her husband, Dennis, Poughkeepsie, and Catherine DeForest, Fishkill; a brother, John Kisch, The Villages, dren, 13 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Kisch, two brothers, Charles and Bernard Kisch, four sisters, Gertrude Bertsche, Mabel Rice, Irene Boyd and Alice Horton.

Calling hours are Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, 218 Mill Poughkeepsie. Wheelchair entrance is located in the rear of the funeral home on Vassr St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Mar. 14, 2008, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Poughkeepsie.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. For directions, please visit www.torsonememorial.com. Lillian M. Hustis BEACON Lillian M.Hustis, 98, a lifelong Beacon resident, died March 12, 2008 at Fishkill, NY.

She formerly worked at New York Rubber Beacon, NY. She was a former member of the Odd Fellows Ladies Auxiliary, Beacon. Born Nov. 4, 1909 in Beacon, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Harriet Boss Stevens. She was the widow of the late Milton T.

Hustis, Sr. Survivors include three children, Milton T. Hustis, and his wife, Harriet of Cold Spring, Barbara Parker of Cold Spring and William A. Hustis and his wife, Marge of Beacon; 13 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great -great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Frances Stevens and a brother, Robert Stevens.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 from to at Libby Funeral Home, 55 Teller Beacon. Services will follow at at the funeral I home, with Father Edwin Cromey officiating. Frank W. Zito RED HOOK- Frank W. Zito, 76, Red Hook, NY, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck, NY. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas and Rose (Beluscia) Zito. Mr.

Zito married Lois Laviano on November 22, 1970 at Hicksville, NY and she survives at home. For many years and until his retirement, Mr. Zito was an Attorney his own law firm in Malverne, NY. In addition to his wife in Red Hook, he is survived by a daughter and son in law: Janice David Trocchio of Red Hook, NY, a son daughter in law: Frank Sarah Zito of Hurley, NY, two brothers: Raymond Zito of Portland, ME, and Thomas Zito of California, a granddaughter: Lily Zito, and a grandson, Vince Trocchio. Friends may call Thursday and Friday from 2 4 7.

Schaeffer, 90, formerly of Allentown, PA, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in Elant at Fishkill Nursing Home, Fishkill, NY. with her late husband, Charles H. Schaeffer, Imogene was the former co-owner of Schaffer's Pharmacy, Allentown, PA, for 23 years before retiring in 1973.

Born in New Tripoli, PA, she was a daughter of the late Walter H. and Lillian M. (Kuntz) Sittler. Mrs. Schaeffer was a member of the former Trinity U.C.C., and a former choir member of St.

Daughter of the late Alfonse and Eva (LeBlanc) Thibdeau, she was born in Quebec, Canada on September 8, 1918. Mrs.

Bouffard had been a waitress at Holiday Hills Y.M.C.A. in Pawling for many years, and was a member of St. John's Church, Pawling. Mrs. Bouffard is predeceased by her first husband, Leonel Bouffard, and her second husband, Henry Bouffard, and two grandchildren, Lisa Renee Bouffard Salvatore Tedeschi.

Arlene was born on May 8, 1917, the daughter of Charles and Ida Belle (Cassell) Ellis in Durkeetown, town of Fort Edward, New York. She went to a one room schoolhouse in Argyle, graduated from high school in Hudson Falls, New York, and attended business school.

She married Herbert Samuel Levy of in 1940, and later moved to New York City where Herbert Levy was Program Director of District One of B'nai B'rith. They were divorced in 1960. In 1962 she married Dr. Maurice Sitomer, a dentist in Poughkeepsie, who was a well known civic leader in Dutchess. County.

The Sitomers moved to Chevy Chase, Maryland in 1999 and Dr. Sitomer died in 2000. Arlene Sitomer was' an active member of Hadassah and B'nai B'rith Women in Glens Falls, New York, and President of the Eleanor Roosevelt chapter of B'nai B'rith Women in the 1950s. In 1984 she endowed the Dr. Maurice Sitomer annual lecture in Jewish Studies at Vassar College.

The Sitomer lecture continues to be a cornerstone of the Jewish Studies Program at Vassar. The Sitomers travelled widely, visiting fifty-five countries. Even at the end ofher life, Mrs. Sitomer was hoping to visit China for the fifth time. An avid gardener, she also had great interest in politics that spanned more than a half century.

She campaigned for Wendell Wilkie in 1940 and supported Hillary Clinton's current candidacy for the presidency. Loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, she will be greatly missed. She leaves three children, her daughter Linda Levy Peck, of Washington, DC; her son, David Sitomer of Washington D.C., and her daughter Toby Hazel of Hawaii, her granddaughter Suzanna Sitomer of Alexandria, Virginia and Simone of New York City and her great grandchild Luna Catini of New York City, and her brother, Charles Ellis of Tallahassee, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Vassar Temple, 140 Hooker Ave.

Poughkeepsie, NY. Interment will be in Vassar Temple Cemetery, Lagrange Ave. Poughkeepsie. There will be a reception afterwards at the Copper Penny Inn 2406 New Hackensack Rd. Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.

Catherine M. Tompkins HUGHSONVILLE -Catherine M. Tompkins, 91, a lifelong area resident died Sunday, March 9, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh. Mrs.

Tompkins was a member of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. She touched so many lives and will be missed deeply by her family and friends. Born Feb. 21, 1917, in Hughsonville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Daniel J.

and Elizabeth Hopper Tompkins. She attended Wappingers Schools. Survivors include her daughterinlaw, Susan Finnan of the Town of Wappinger and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son; Grant Finnan III in 2001; her husband, Grant Finnan in 1977; her husband, Ward Tompkins in 1996; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Lynne Finnan in 1982.
