JOURNAL THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21. 1965 Three IBM Scientists Report On Advance in Computer Technology Dr. Benjamin AgusU, Kerr I day made known IBM Integrat Road, Town of Poughkeepsie, to led circuits for computer memory Kicked to Death Palsy Victim Gone From Bench Outside Store FLORIDA CITY. FLA.

(AP) Last Friday night, Bobby Ivey. a 37 year old cerebral palsy victim, idly watched the traffic go past from a bench In front of Kemp's grocery. He was frail and small, and his hands shook so badly he couldn't hold a book. Today, police are looking for there teen age thugs they say kicked him to death. He was found kicked, beaten and senseless in a gutter about a block from the grocery.

Police said be was attacked Friday night and died Tuesday. He told his sister: "They beat me, and then they kicked and kicked and kicked." Patrolman Joseph Agostino said he found Ivey. who had been afflicted with cerebral palsy since birth, on the pavement, "his head bloodied and badly beaten." Before lapsing into unconsciousness, he mumbled a name and said three teen aged boys attacked him, officers reported. Ivey's aunt, Mrs. Anna Whipple, said he recently had been frightened by some boys in the neighborhood.

"They would taunt and tease him," said Mrs. Whipple. "He would come back in the house and hide in the kitchen." Commented Agostino: "Bobby couldn't have beat up a grade school child; he was so palsied he could hardly walk." An autopsy report showed he died "of crushing injuries to the chest." Florida City, a town of about 4.200 is 35 miles south of Miami. Boy, 10, Struck By Car in Turnpike Ten year old Bruce Grediinski, 4 Clark Heights, Town of Pleas and Valley, was injured yesterday when he was struck by a car in Dutchess Turnpike about a block away from his home. Deputy sheriffs said the boy, the son of Mr.

and Mrs. Leonard Gredzinski, was taken to Vassar Hospital by Pleasant Valley Fire Department ambulance. He was discharged after treatment for bead cuts. The boy was struck by a car driven by Mrs. Diana Reh, of 493 Stanton Terrace, Town of Pough keepsie, said deputies.

The 6:45 p.m. accident happened about 200 feet northeast of Bower Road. Florentine Council Schedules Retreat Florentine Council, Knights of Columbus, will conduct its annual retreat tomorrow through Sunday at Mt. 'Alvernia Seminary, Wappingers Falls. Past Grand Knight John W.

All are scientists at the East Fishkill components development facility of International Business Machines Corp. The development which Dr. Agusta reported was described as a significant advance in computer technology. The experimental circuits are fabricated on tiny chips of silicon. 70 thousandths of an inch square.

One chip has 16 circuits, with four auxiliary diodes. Each of the circuits has five transistors and four resistors. Thu, 148 compon ents 80 transistors, 64 reistors. and four diodes all are contained in a tiny silicon square which is so small that about 60 of them or nearly 7,500 compone ents) could be placed Side by side on a fingernail! The circuits are called "integrated" because they cannot be broken down into separate components. (Each transistor in a portable radio, for example, is a separate component and can be changed without affecting any other component.) Integrated cir cuits on which all electrical ele ments are fabricated within a single chip of silicon are called "Monolithics." The chips represent the first reported use of monlithic semiconductors for high speed computer memories.

They will be us ed in experimental three scratch pad memories. These memories will provide faster speeds than other forms of memory element, such as ferrite cores now in use in these key at i data processing units. Bv be ing in either an "on" or "off" condition, each circuit on each chip represents one bit of informa tion.
