OBITUARIES WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16, 2005 POUGHKEEPSIE JOURNAL Irene Madaline Kufs TOWN OF LAGRANGE Irene Madaline Kufs, a resident of the Town of LaGrange for over 60 years died Monday, at the Thompson House in Rhinebeck. The former Irene M. Popper, she was born on Dec. 17, 1907 in Wappingers Falls to Mr. and Mrs.

John Popper. Her mother, the former Alvaretta F. Brower was a descendent of one of the early settlers of Wappingers Falls. She was descended from Adolph Brewer (Brower) who settled in Wappingers Falls about 1745 and who later built the Mesier Homestead in Mesier Park. Her father, John Popper, operated a haberdashery business in Wappingers Falls.

Irene married William Andrew Kufs on August 23, 1934 at Zion Episcopal Church in Wappingers Falls. In 1936 they moved to LaGrange where they spent the rest of their lives. Surviving are her two daughters, Barbara Kufs of Boulder, and Nancy DuBois of Etna, Maine; three granddaughters, Alison DuBois of LaGrange; Karen Rash of Poughkeepsie; and Melinda Hardy and her husband, Eric of Burlington, CT; two -great-granddaughters, Alaina Voulgaropoulos and Natalie Rossing of LaGrange and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves two dear and long time friends, Ruth Reid and Vivian Quinn. Irene is predeceased by her husband, William, who died on August 4, 1994; and her sisters, brother, their spouses, and a grandson-in-law, Nicholas Rash.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the William G. Miller Son Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie. Family and Friends are asked to meet at the Zion Episcopal Church, Wappingers Falls at 11:15 on Thursday. Burial will be in the Wappingers Rural Cemetery at a later date.

Rita Cirino-Marcio WAPPINGERS FALLS. Rita Cirino Marcio, 50, a 10-year resident of Wappingers Falls and formerly of Yonkers, died March 14, 2005 at her home. Born Sept.

8, 1954 in Yonkers, she was the daughter of Bart and Anna Castronuoud Cirino. Mrs. Cirino-Marcio attended Yonkers schools. She worked as a social worker for the city of Yonkers. She also volunteered for the Rape Crisis Intervention Dutchess County and for Domestic Violence, Dutchess County.

Mrs. Cirino-Marcio was a member of St. Mary's. Church, Wappingers Falls. She was married to Anthony Marcio, who predeceased her.

Survivors include three children, Anthony Marcio III and wife, Ailleen of Wappingers. Falls; Craig Marcio of Wappingers Falls; Pamela Marcio and her fianco Fred Cabe of Highland; a brother Bart Cirino and his wife, Joanna of Yonkers; a sister Linda Stackhouse and her husband, Robert of LaGrange and several nieces and nephews, aunts and' uncles. Calling hours will be from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Wednesday at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10am on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at St.

Mary's Church, Clinton Wappingers Falls. Sherwood Q. Goggins BEACON Sherwood Q. Goggins, 80, of Beacon, died Monday, March 7, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie.

Mr. Goggins was a retired US Postal Worker in Manhattan. He was an Honorary Fireman at Lewis Thompkins Hose in Beacon. Mr. Goggins served in the United States Army during World War II.

Born May 9, 1924 in Jamestown, N.Y., he was the son of the late Archliss and Violet Quill Goggins. On Sept. 7, 1962 in Jersey City, N.J., he married the late Oteria Brown Goggins. Survivors include his three children, Kenneth Goggins of Trenton, N.J.: Karen Cobb of Bronx, N.Y.; Heather Ludwig of Woodstock; two sisters, Mary Jewel of New York City, seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be offered 1p.m., Saturday, March 19 at St.

Andrews Episcopal Church, South Beacon. Father Sam will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Mildred Botsford POUGHKEEPSIE Mildred M. Botsford, 97, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, died Monday, March 14, 2005 at Wingate at Ulster Nursing Facility in Highland. Mrs. Botsford worked for several local banks; First National Poughkeepsie Savings and Fallkill. Born November 3, 1907 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of George and Lillian Reiser Moore.

Mildred attended local schools, graduating from Krissler Business School. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie for many years. On June 28, 1931 she married Charles E. Botsford, who predeceased her in 1987. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Robert and Dorothy Botsford of Hyde Park; her grandson and wife, Robert and Elizabeth Botsford of Salt Point; her granddaughter Sharon L.

Botsford of Hyde Park; and several nieces and cousins. Visitation will be Thursday 3-6 pm at Parmele Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be held on Friday 10:30 am from the funeral home with Father Richard Witt officiating. Interment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Memorial donations may be made in Mildred's memory to Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut, 501 George New Haven, Ct. 06511.

Mona Maytag WINGDALE Mona Maytag, 61, a 37 year resident of Wingdale, formerly of Dover Plains, died Monday, March 14, 2005. Mrs. Maytag was an Insurance Broker for Prudential Life Insurance Co. She was a Delegate for the American Kennel Club, Secretary for the Hudson River Valley Hound Association, a member of the American Great Dane Club and Whippet Club.

Born Oct. 29, 1943 in Sweden, she was the daughter of Per and Anna Nolinder. She was educated in public schools in Sweden and received her B.S. in Psychology. In.

1990, she married Robert E. Maytag, in New York City. Mr. Maytag died in 1996. She is survived by a son, Eric P.

Martin of Wingdale. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Michael Martin, who died in 1996. Calling hours will be 12noon to 2 p.m., Friday, March 18, at. Hufcut Funeral Home, Main Dover Plains. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m.

IN MEMORIAM We Shall Never Forget Rachel Corrie of Olympia, Washington 1979 2003 Killed in Rafah, Gaza Strip, two years ago March 16, 2003 by an Israeli military bulldozer as she stopped it from destroying the home of a Palestinian doctor. Great soldier of non-violence, she stood firm for truth and justice, though forsaken by her country. She will live forever in our hearts as a beacon of liberty to the oppressed.

Mid-Hudson Friends of Rachel Corrie and The Dutchess Greens 0000433532 Stephen Samboy PAWLING Stephen Samboy, 81, of Pawling, died Monday, March 14, 2005 at Rosary Hill, Hawthorne, N.Y. Mr. Samboy was a New York State Investigator for the Liquor Authority in New York City. He was a member of Hasler Kamp Post American Legion and attended St. John's Church in Pawling.

Mr. Samboy was a disabled veteran of World War II. Born Aug. 24, 1923 in Astoria, N.Y., he was the son of the late Dimitry and Marylea (Baruch) Cembej. He was married to Marilyn A.

Mauser, who died June 22, 2001. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Ann Gallo of Carmel; two sons, Gary of Stroudsbury, Bruce of Averill Park; six grandchildren; three brothers; and a sister. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m., at Horn Thomes 83 E. Main Pawling. Hasler Kamp Post American Legion will hold services at 6:45 during the calling hours.

Zaccheo FISHKILL Vincent J. Zaccheo, 44, a resident of Fishkill since 1989, formerly of Mahopac, died Monday, March 14, 2005: at. St. Luke'sCornwall Hospital, Newburgh. Mr.

Zaccheo was co-owner of Joe's Italian Market Fishkill. He was a member of St. Mary, Mother of the Church. Born Dec. 25, 1960 in Palo Del Colle, Italy, he was the son of the Giuseppe and Angela Caputo Zaccheo.

He was a graduate of Mahopac High School and received his degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Westchester Community College. Survivors include his mother, Angela Zaccheo of Fishkill; his sister and her husband, Santa A. Raymond Byrnes of Wappingers Falls; his brother, Carlo N. Zaccheo of Fishkill; his aunt, Marianne Caputo of Fishkill; nieces and nephews, Lauren, Joseph Sara Byrnes of Wappingers Falls; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, March 16 and Thursday, March 17, at Robert H.

on January 11, 1914, she was the daughter Richard and Philena Hopkins Whitehead. Mrs. Owen was predeceased by her husband, Willard Owen on October 28, 2003. Ruth was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Millbrook and the Milibrook Historical Society. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
