Mr. Elting was a. member of the Old Timers' Club, of the Pride of the Hudson Elks Lodge, of the Lafayette American Legion post and of the AME Zion Church. An Army veteran of World War he was a charter member of the Mohawks baseball club. A lifelong resident of this city, he attended schools.

The son of Isaac and Julia Colden Elling, he was born here Sept. 12, 1898. Surviving are his wife, the formet Vergie Davis; two brothers, William and Clarence, both city; a sister, Miss Bertha Elting, Chappequa; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Tunison, New York City, and Mrs. Dorothy Carl, city; three grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; five nephews and six nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p. m. at the Jones Bros. Funeral Home, 119 Collage SEx by tHe Rey. Belviel H.

Gertrude M. Ackert, 63, West Park postmaster, died yesIterday at Kingston Hospital, Kingston, after suffering a heart seizlure Sunday. An employe of the West Park Post Office since 1925, she had been postmaster for the last several years, A member of the Highland Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Ackert was a resident of West Park for 45 years. She was born in Plutarch March 8, 1900.

The former Gertrude M. Dimsey, Mrs. Ackert. was the daughter of Edison and Gertrude Miller Dimsey. She attended schools in Highland and, in 1918, became the wife of the late Frank Ackert.

He died in 1955. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. James (Carrie) Roberts and Miss Ursula Ackert, both of West Park, and Mrs. John (Hazel) sey, Paltz, and Kenneth two brothers, Edison DimDonald (Zelma) Truax, Cayucas, Lancer, Esopus; a sister, Mrs. sey, -Modena, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday 2 p.m. at the Sutton Funeral home, Highland, by the Rev. William S. Robertson, minister of the Esopus Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home tonight and tomorrow night from 7 to 9 o'clock. Mrs. Van Wagenen New Paltz Resident Mrs. Lottie VanWagenen, 83, Excelsior Avenue, New Paltz, died yesterday in Orange County after a long illness. A resident of the United States for many years, she was born in Smith Falls, 'Canada, July 1, 1880.

The former Lottie DeWitt, Mrs. VanWagenen was the daughter of John and Lydia Hunter Stone. Her husband, DeWitt VanWagenen, died in 1927. Surviving are two sons, Walter, Woodstock, and Amos, East Meadow, L. a stepson, Elmer, Orange, N.

a sister, Mrs. William Lawrence, Windsor Locks, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the Pine Funeral Home New Paltz, by the Rev. Gerrett Wullschleger.

Col. W. Kenneth Howarth, 56, former Eastern New York divisional commander for the Salvation Army, died Wednesday in New York City. While divisional commander, he conducted several worship services and spoke at meetings at the local Salvation Army. Col.

Howarth had been assistant field secretary of. the Salvation Army since August when he from his post as divisional commander He had served as commander since 1961. The colonel was a resident of 101. West 12th New York City. Surviving are his wife, the former Emma Turkington; a son, Kenneth, Hightstown, a daughter, Mrs.

Harry (Carol) Osborne, Austin, Texas; a brother, Thomas, Providence, R. a sister, Mrs. 'and Edward O'Connor, Providence, three grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted today at the Salvation Army Temple in New York City. Injured In 3-car Crash Four persons were injured in an accident involving three cars yesterday afternoon, at 4:50 o'clock, in Route 55, the Manchester Road, about 100 feet west of Spy Hill, according to Town Police Lieutenant Brown, who identified the drivers as Frederick Herlihy Stamford, Paul Scott, 28 Beck Place, Town of Poughkeepsie; and Martin Pinnock, 239 Smith city.

Lieutenant Brown said Esther VanDeMark and Lucille Brown, both Highland resident, and passengers in Mr. Scott's car, and Mr. Pinnock were taken to Vassar Hospital in the Arlington Fire Department ambulance, and were treated and released. He said Mr. Herlihy told Sergeant Von Knoblauch, who investigated the accident, he would consult a personal physician about a possible neck injury.
