Journal Thursday, April 28, 1988 Edward S. Ne Jame Edward S. Ne Jame, 65, a lifelong local resident and owner of the E.S. Ne Tanne Pool Supply Corp. of Red Oaks Mill, died Tuesday at Vassar Brothers Hospital, City of Poughkeepste, after a brief illness.

Mr. Ne Jame past chairman of the City of Poughkeepsie Republican party, a past president of the Young Republicans and a 6th Ward Republican committeeman. He was a past president of the Lebanon American Club, Poughkeepsie; a lifetime honorary member of the Jaycees; and a member of the Poughkeepsie Chamber of Commerce, Elks Lodge 275, Poughkeepsie, and the National Spa and Pool Institute. He had been awarded gold medals for pool design by the National Spa and Pool Institute, was responsible for bringing the Soapbox Derby and Golden Gloves boxing to Poughkeepsie and was actively involved with Catholic Charities in Dutchess County. Mr.

Ne Jame was a veteran of World War II, served in the U.S. Army, and received the Purple Heart at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the American Legion Post 37, Poughkeepsie. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, City of Poughkeepsie.

He was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Torrington, to George B. and Malachi Nejamie Ne Jame. His mother survives in Poughkeepsie. MR.

NE JAME On June 24, 1951, in Maryland, he married Geraldine Branson. She died in 1973. In addition to his mother, survivors include three sons, Mark Ne Jame, both Chris of Jame, Poughkeepsie, and George Ne Jame of Los Angeles, two daughters, Susan Moore of Poughkeepsie and Donna Cucci of Beacon; a brother, Charles Ne Jame of Danbury, three sisters, Mary Ne Jame, Amelia Betros and Josephine Bagwell, all of Poughkeepsie; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today at the William G. Miller Son Funeral Home 59 Montgomery City of Poughkeepsie.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, South Hamilton Street, City of Poughkeepsie. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Town of Poughkeepsie, with the Arlington Honor Guard conducting a military service.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Dutchess County Chapter, 31 Haight Poughkeepsie, N.Y. 12603. Thomas P. Ahearn TUCSON, Ariz. Thomas P.

Ahearn, 47, an Amenia native and former IBM liason to the European Economic Commission in Paris, died April 21 at his Tucson home after a short illness. Mr. Ahearn had worked in engineering management at IBM Poughkeepsie from 1963 to 1980. A Tucson resident for six years, he previously had been an Horizon Hill Drive resident in the Town of Poughkeepsie for many years. While a Poughkeepsie resident, he had been active in the United Way of Dutchess County.

He was born May 14, 1940, in Sharon, to Thomas and Marion Sadler Ahearn. He was a graduate of Webutuck Central High School in 1957, Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, in 1961, Princeton (N.J.) University in 1963 and the University of Vermont in 1982. In 1962, at the South Amenia Pres- byterian Church, he married Barbara Brusca, who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Ahearn and Stephanie Ahearn, both of Tucson, a brother, William Ahearn of North Salem (Westchester County); and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, including two aunts, Mary- Funk of Pleasant Valley and Catherine Fahey of Pine Plains; and an uncle, Edward Ahearn of Amenia. Services were held Sunday at the Dodge Chapel, Tucson, Ariz.

The Rev. Dr. Dale E. Hewitt officiated. Burial was at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Dutchess County Unit, Hope Lodge, Vassar Brothers Hospital, Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, N. Y. 12601. Arrangements were under the direction of the Adair Funeral Home, Tucson, Ariz. James V.

Matero WAPPINGERS FALLS James V. Matero, 64, an operating engineer and a local resident for five years, died Tuesday at 1 his home after a brief illness. Mr. Matero had been in the construction industry for 40 years and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 137. He retired in 1987.

A resident of Yonkers for 59 years before moving to Wappingers Falls, he was a former member of St. Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church, Yonkers. He was born May 26, 1923, in Yonkers, to Stephen and Lucy Zaffarano Matero. He was predeceased by a sister, Stella Rozycki.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Yonkers. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church, Palmer Road, Yonkers.

Mr. Ransom was the teacher in charge of the Physical Education Department at John Jay High School, Wappingers Central School District, where he was also director of intramural sports. Previously of Brooklyn, Mr. Ransom was a member of the Wappingers Congress of Teachers, the Central Hudson Valley Board of Girls' Basketball Officials and its constitution and bylaw committees, and the New York State Association of Certified Officials for girls' basketball. He was the former director of recreation in the Town of Beekman, and director of intramural athletics at Ithaca College from 1970 to 1973.

He was born April 24, 1951, in Brooklyn, to Herbert Alfred and Muriel Russ Ransom. His parents survive in Eastchester (Westchester County). A graduate of Midwood High School, Brooklyn, Mr. Ransom was a member of its 1967-1968 Public School Athletic League Championship Basketball Team, and was named most valuable player of the 1969 basketball team. He also had competed in the 1969 Annual Brooklyn Senior Stars Interboro High School Basketball Tournament.

He attended Brooklyn College, the state university college at New Paltz. In 1973, he received a bachelor's degree from Ithaca College and was named an outstanding college athlete on a national level. On June 21, 1975, in Yorktown Heights (Westchester County), he married Alida Lazzari, who survives. He is also survived by a brother, John Sloan of Stamford, two nephews and a niece. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Isabella McCarroll BEACON Isabella McCarroll, 94, a former Beacon resident, died Tuesday at the Sylcox Nursing Home, Newburgh, where she had been a five-year resident. She had been a Beacon resident since 1913, and was a member of St. Joachim's Roman Catholic Church.

She was born March 25, 1894, in Newburgh, to William and Elizabeth Tuttle Hunt. She attended Newburgh schools. Janet Lea RALEIGH, N.C. Janet Lea Staton, 29, a former Fishkill resident, died Feb. 19 at the Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C., after a long illness.

A nine-year North Carolina resident, Miss Staton was an executive secretary for IBM in Raleigh since 1979. She was a member of the SOLO Club of Raleigh, and the Calvary Lutheran Church, Concord, N.C. She had also been a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Fishkill. She was born March 14, 1958, in Chicago, to Bill J. and Millie Altenburg Staton.

Her parents survive in Concord. Pauline H. POUGHQUAG Pauline H. Riley, 87, a 26-year Poughquag resident, died Monday at St. Francis Hospital, Town of Poughkeepsie.

Previously of Eustice, Mrs. Riley was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, Green Haven. She was born March 3, 1901, in Santos, to Staling and Hattie McKenzie Thomas. She attended schools in Ocala, Fla. Her husband, James Riley, died in 1967.

She is survived by four daughters, Merrybelle Jackson and Johnnie Calling Mae Riley, both of Chicago, and Eliz- Friday abeth Williams and Joanne Odums, ral both of Poughquag; seven sons, Floyd K. Christian Staton of Colorado Springs, and two sisters, Laura Wilhelm of Salisbury, N.C.

NEW YORK William P. Miller 39, a former Poughkeepsie resident, died Tuesday at the New York University Medical Center, New York City. A 23-year resident, Mr. Miller was curator at the Jamaica (Queens County) Art Center for 10 years, and has served as its executive director for the past two years. He had been a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Town of Poughkeepsie.

He was born Dec. 12, 1948, in Poughkeepsie, to William P. Miller Sr. and Gertrude A. Flynn Miller.

His father survives in the Town of Poughkeepsie. He was a 1966 graduate of Our Lady of. Lourdes High School, and received a bachelor's degree from Cooper Union, New York City, in 1970. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
