Addressing a news conference 39 days before he is to go to prison, Irving, 41, said the 384 page book would "reveal for the first time" a number of facts connected to the affair, including the name of a fourth person associated with the scheme. lie put In hastily that he meant the book's revelations would be known to the press and public for the first time because they were already known to the authorities. "I have been told in no uncertain terms by the U.S. Attorney's office," he said when questioned about the book's veracity, "that if anything in the book contradicts my sworn statements or testimony before the grand jury I will face a perjury charge and that carries up to five years in prison." Tanned from a Florida vacation, Irving has avoided newsmen since he pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy charges and went to work on "the book about the book" with his wife Edith and researcher Richard Suskind, who are now in Jail for their part in the Hughes book.

Irving's book, entitled "Clifford Irving: What Really will be Issued in September by Grove Press as a paperback. It will be serialized In a "major magazine," but the author would not name the publication. He also declined to Identify the mysterious "fourth per son" Involved in the hoax beyond describing the party as "prominent in the case" and having never been sought for prosecution. Irving must surrender Aug. 28 to begin serving a 2H year sentence.
