Roanoke Rapids The indictment was returned by the grand jury of the federal district court in Raleigh and is said to contain several counts of alleged misapplication of funds and false entries in violation of the national banking law Long has been prominent in politics and was one or more times president pro tern of the State senate The amount involved is variously stated at from $260000 to more than a half million Long is or was president of two cotton mills the Rosemary manufacturing com pany and the Roanoke mills It is said that it was in connection with the acecunts of these mills that the alleged irregularities occurrel Long was a director of the at the time Be is a strong man intelkcUi ally and has been suggested as a pos sible candidate for the United States senate Council
