You go to a lot of trouble to dodge something you are afraid might come to pass and it goes right ahead and happens anyway! It was like that with the Ben Andrews family, of 1020 South Silver Avenue, and their unique pet-Toughy, the vegetarian dog who didn't like meat and wouldn't eat it. Editor Frank Farese predicted that Toughy would live a hundred yearson account of his exemplary health habits. And he might have had a try at it if he hadn't developed an extremely unhealthy habit chasing cars. Silver Avenue is a pretty busy place a lot of the time- and all of those cars zooming around finally got Toughy's goat, and he developed the habit of chasing them, And he wouldn't give it up. This disturbed his mistress- she could just see him all By Evilva (Mrs.

Noah) Scott mangled and dying from being hit by one, and she resolved to prevent it. She gave him to her daughter, Pat Walker, who lived in a quiet place in Warren, Arizona. And heaved a sigh of relief at having solved that problem. It didn't stay solved. Murder will out they say and so will a bad habit.

It will trip you up when you least expect it. Toughy's sure did. His new family moved to Bisbee, and left him to hold down the fort there for a little while. But he didn't understand that this was home now and went out to look for them- -met up with a car- and lost his life thereby. He might just as well have stayed in Deming.
