CATHERINE GRELL Woodward Wayne Leroy Draman, 72, crossed through gate on March 26, 2015 at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines, to be met by The Lord and Granny for the grand tour of Heaven. Wayne was born at his home in Stuart, IA on May 13, 1942. He was a self-employed trucker until 1986, at which time he helped to open Truck Stop, Exit 93 in Stuart and the Lakeside Country Club at Diamondhead Lake near Dexter. Throughout his life, Wayne lived with his beloved wife Bonnie of 43 years, in approximately 1,565 homes throughout the state of Iowa and for a brief time in Illinois. They worked together as property managers from 1991 until 2006 when Wayne began his career as a shuttle driver for Mercy Hospital.

During this time he made countless friends and always brightened the day of those who relied on him to get them where they needed to go. Wayne was notorious for his lack of fashion. For years his daughter, Rhonda, worked to convince him that wearing plaid with stripes was not okay, and although he eventually gave in, his love for Hanes T-shirts, jeans, and cowboy boots will go on forever. Wayne was never known for his beautiful singing voice, but if you ever came to visit him on a Sunday morning, you would him sitting with his pocket radio and headphones singing along to Fort Gospel radio. Although he was known as the quiet observer, Wayne never hesitated to throw in his two cents when needed.

As a relatively loud and opinionated family, we a lways took heed when he spoke. Wayne had a profound love for his wife Bonnie, his children Randy Hodson (Lori), Rhonda Miller (Kevin), Laura Hodson, Diana Merical, and Donald Young (Carla), along with any child that came into his life in need of a home. All his foster kids were forever family. His countless grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews brought him tons of joy and memories. There was also a very special place in his heart for his two furry children, Mickey and Minnie, and his beloved Denver Broncos.

Although he was never seen as a man, Wayne was always in favor of saving a buck. Anyone with a spade and a love of Wayne is invited to a burial of the remains on Tuesday, March 31st at 2:00 in the afternoon at Cemetery north of A celebration of life will follow on Saturday, April 4th at the Earlham Community Center from 4-7.
