Des Moines GRETCHEN M. (GUNTER) HAYES, J.D. Des Moines Gretchen May Hayes, 90, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.

on Saturday, 1 at Ties Fnnernl Sandra Sue Roehrick, peacefully passed from this life and into the loving arms of her Lord on Sunday, May 26, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center after a long and courageous battle with end stage renal disease. Sandie, was born on June 24, 1944 in Gillette Grove, IA, to August and Maxine Burdette. Sandie graduated from Gillette Grove High School in 1962 and came to Des Moines, where she Charles Robert Grafton, 73, of Waukee died Monday, May 27, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at Windsor United Methodist Church, 6222 University Avenue in Des Moines; visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

Thursday at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Burial will take place in Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Chuck was born May 14, 1940 in Des Moines to George and Ruth (Nelson) Grafton. He was a graduate of Des Moines East High School class of 1958 and served in the Iowa National Guard. He married Frances Ann Pierce on June 29, 1962.

Chuck retired from Bob Brown Chevrolet in 2007, after 48 years of service. Chuck's hobbies included golf, bowling and woodworking. Chuck was an avid fan of horse racing and Drake basketball. He enjoyed exercising at the YMCA Healthy Living Center and his workout group there. Chuck loved spending time with his family and friends.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Chuck is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Mark Meyer of Waukee; his grandchildren, Meg and Ben; his father, George Grafton of Forsyth, MO; and his sister, Joyce Lenarduzzi of Rockaway Beach, MO. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Fran Grafton; his mother, Ruth Grafton; and his mother-in-law, Iona Pierce. Hayes in Park Ridge, IL and their marriage was blessed with three children, Karen Greta, Owen Jorgeson and Galen Gunter. She attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, IA and graduated from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA, with degrees in journalism and music. She graduated from Drake Law School in 1965, earning her Juris Doctorate. Gretchen traveled with her husband Owen while he served in the Army Air Corp during WWII.

After the war, they made their first home in West Des Moines. They moved to Des Moines in 1952. She was the legal counsel for Blue CrossBlue Shield until retiring in 1983. She always joked her first academic degree was "MRS." as she and Owen were married nearly 65 years before his passing in 2006. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children: one daughter, Karen Hayes-Siever of Des Moines; two sons, Owen J.

Hayes II and his wife Wendy of Park Ridge, IL and Galen Hayes of San Francisco, CA; six grandchildren, Bryan Siever and his wife Amber, Kerry Siever, Dr. Owen J. Hayes III and his wife Dr. Evelyn Thomson, Forrest Hayes, Marshall Hayes, and Sarah Brauner; seven great-grandchildren, Henry, Emerson, Zachary, Gavin, Joseph, Dino and Levi; Gretchen was preceded in death by her husband Owen Hayes; her parents; and siblings, Herman, Evelyn and twin sister Greta. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Later she became a paralegal and secretary managing her husband John's law firm for over 30 years.

She was unsurpassed as a typiststenographer. Sandie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and her faith was very important to her. She will be forever remembered for her compassion, heart of gold and her kind and generous spirit! She loved her flowers and gardening and enjoyed experimenting with new recipes from her favorite Food Network Shows (and was secret fan of World Wide Wrestling!) Most important was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren: Joshua Roehrick, Meegan Murray, Katelyn Murray, Marissa Kossoff, Jeremy Roehrick, Nicholas Kossoff, Casey Murray, John Koll, Connor Murray, Jack Roehrick and Elizabeth Koll. Sandie will be lovingly remembered by her husband, John Roehrick, her sisters, Marie (Wendell) Conover, Lincoln, NE; Audrey (Mark) Calmer, Manson, IA; Jane (Dan) Gray, Logan IA and the loves of her life her children: Robin (Andy) Kossoff, West Des Moines, IA; Shannon (Kevin) Murray, Cedar Rapids IA; Heidi (Chris) Koll, Urbandale, IA, John (Jill) Roehrick, West Des Moines, IA; and James (Jennifer) Roehrick, Richmond, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her brother Jerry Burdette, granddaughter, Riley Ann Murray, and father August and mother Maxine Burdette.

Though, she was challenged in her last years of life by the diseases which became her final undoing she never lost her sense of humor and love of life. Her family will be forever grateful and wish to express their thanks for the counsel, treatment and care to all of the medical community who made her final journey tolerable. Visitation will be held at the Westover Funeral Home on Sunday, June 2, from 3 to 5 p.m. with services on Monday, June 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church.

She worked security at Younkers for many years before moving to Prairie Meadows and retiring from there in 2010. She had a loving, generous heart of gold; was genuinely a good friend to all, and never met a stranger. She made the world a better place for all those who were blessed to have known her. Mary is survived by her sister, Patsy (Don) Harvey; her sister-in-law, Midge Gebhart; her step-daughter, Stefani Kimbley; her caregivers: niece Dixie (Walter) Cortez and nephew Rick (Debbie) Williams; three grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and other loving relatives and many special friends. Ackerman; four brothers; three sisters; her parents, James and Clara Gebhart and her two beloved pets: Missy and Cody. They settled down in Des Moines and had three children. In 1986 they headed west to the Denver area for eleven years before retiring down in Corpus Christi, TX. In October of 2012 they returned to Des Moines. Pat passed away on May 24, 2013. Pat enjoyed adventure.

She and Jim traveled to Europe twice visiting over fourteen countries. Pat was an avid reader, Scrabble and puzzle fanatic! She was a huge NFL football fan. She liked to snow ski, bike, prospect, fish and camp. Animals were her weakness as many a stray ended up in her home. She loved being with family and friends.

Pat and Jim recently celebrated 56 years of marriage with their daughter Suzan, son Bart, daughter-in-law Dana, grandsons Tom (grand daughter-in-law Jenni and great-grandson (Cosmo) and Andrew. Other survivors include: her son Jeff, his wife Julie, their children, Robert and Erika. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to: The Animal Rescue League of Iowa. A Memorial Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

Mary Ruth Ackerman, 68, died peacefully Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Per Mary's wishes, no funeral has been planned. An Open House Remembrance Gathering will be held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 in the Community Room at The Cottages in Pleasant Hill, 555 North Walnut Blvd. Mary was born May 6, 1945 in Altoona to Clara RALPH M.

HANEY Johnston Ralph a Haney, 84, passed away on May 28, 2013. Visitation will be held at Grandview Park Funeral Home on Sunday June 2, from 3 to 5 p.m. with services on Monday June 3, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter at 2 p.m. Ralph was born to Glen Haney and Dorothy Miller on March 3, 1929.
