By MAURICE PATT0N Sports Writer MEMPHIS Heading into last night's game, the Nashville Sounds had no room for error with regards to their postseason aspirations. Many errors were made, however, as the Sounds fell to the Memphis Redbirds 11-6 and were eliminated from playoff contentioa The loss, combined with Oklahoma's 6-1 win against Omaha earlier in the day, clinched the Pacific Coast League East Division championship for the Red-Hawks.

Oklahoma will play host to Omaha in the first two games of the league semifinals beginning tomorrow. "I think everybody was ready to go, but the hops didn't go our way," Sounds Manager Trent Jewett said. "Things went awry. But the last thing you want to do is point fingers." Memphis broke the game open with a four-run third inning against Nashville starter Bob Mi-lacki (6-8), right after Mi-lacki pulled up short of second on Chad Hermansen's apparent two-out base hit in the top of the inning. Mi-lacki was forced out to end the threat, and the Sounds managed little else against Memphis starter Chad Hutchinson (2-0).

"Bobby didn't have his good stuff," said catcher Tim Laker, who continued his torrid series against the Redbirds with a solo homer in a five-run ninth. "They got some breaks and made the most of what they got, and Hutchinson was tough. He got a big lead, and he kept going after guys."
