Police say William Jackson, 29, was in the Bellevue Wendy's office at around 1 a.m. April 3, 1992, when a robber burst in waving a gun. The robber told Jackson and another employee in the room, Henry Ragon, they had one minute to open the store's safe. Investigators say Jackson knelt to open the safe, but the robber fumbled with his gun and shot him in the head, killing him. The gunman ordered Ragon to open the safe, but he said he could not.

The robber then fled and has never been caught. At one point, just months after the shooting, police thought they FANROY, Johnnie L. Leach CRIME had arrested two men responsible for the homicide, but investigators later ruled the men were not involved. "The biggest frustration is the lack of closure," said Ray Jacob, director of operations for Southern Hospitality, the company that runs the Wendy's restaurant where the shooting occurred. "Just knowing there's someone out there who committed the crime and has not been caught is difficult." Southern Hospitality has contributed $10,000 to the reward fund in hopes of finding Jackson's killer.
