January 18, 1998. She was a Nashville native, graduated from Hume-Fogg High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University. Mrs. Rose was active in the American Cancer Society, having served on its board until 1995. While on the board, she chaired the MemorialHonors Program.

She was a Charter Member and Past President of The New Voice Club. Her favorite activity was the Great American Smo-keout. She and longtime friend Sarah Cannon spoke to area youth on the hazards of smoking. In 1991, she received the J.C. Penney Golden Rule Award for outstanding volunteerism.

She was a 1993 finalist for The Mary Catherine Strobel Award. In 1993, Mrs. Rose also received the Good Will Ambassador Award at the American Cancer Society Board Awards Presentation. Family and Friends will always remember Katye's wonderful smile and immense wardrobe of hats. She was a Member of St.

Paul's Southern Methodist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Oscar Rose. Survived by nieces, Helen S. Cas-tleman and Nancy Lee P. Pitts; nephews, H.
