It was an experience he'd like to repeat some day soon. "I understand that sometimes you have to wait," Munoz said. "Playing up there this year was great, though. It makes you want to play there that much more." It's that attitude that has endeared Munoz to his coaches and teammates. "I really respect Jose for what he has done," said Renick of Munoz, who has a .292 batting average during his stint in Class AAA ball "The way he carries himself In the clubhouse is great He's a leader, the type of guy that you really want on your team." Munoz, 28, has spent the past five years in Class AAA That's a long time for someone who is just one step away from the major leagues.

"He's a veteran player who has been around the game and knows how to play," shortstop Chris Snopek said. "He handles himself very well." 1 Munoz has been a reliable player throughout his minor league career. He has played at least 100 games for eight straight seasons. "Jose brings a lot to this ballclub," said Snopek, who joined the Sounds this past weekend after having spent the entire season with the White Sox. "He's a veteran who knows what it takes to win." And then he came back with a two-hit performance against the Omaha Royals on Monday night He's likely to split some time with Doug Brady, who returned from the disabled list Thursday. "I'm feeling a little more comfortable at the plate," said Munoz, who had just 27 at-bats in Chicago. "Maybe I'm getting my timing back a little bit But I really don't want to say that right now."
