THE TtWHCSSt AN Uy, MtMW5B Services tomorrow for Barry Solo Landfill resolution trashed again due to 'best interest' all over the world, his wife said. "He was just a very vivacious, outgoing person," she said. "People loved him." In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons, Scott and Adam Solo, and his mother, Pauline Solo, all of California; and two brothers, Robert of Las Vegas and Richard Solo of California. Mr. Solo's family requested that any memorial donations be made to the Vanderbilt Cancer Center.

be opened a Volkswagen dealership in New Port Richey, Fla. In the late 1970s he sold that dealership and moved to Connecticut, where he opened a Honda dealership. "He loved what he was doing, he lived it, breathed it every day, every moment" said his wife of 13 years, Maxine Solo. Mr. Solo graduated from the University of Miami, majoring in finance and business.

He loved to travel and had been Memorial services for Barry Solo, 51, founder and former owner of Bell Ford, now Performance Ford, will be at 3 pjn. tomorrow at The Temple. Burial will be in St Petersburg, Fla. He died of lung cancer Sunday at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky. Mr.

Solo, of Prospect, Ky, founded Bell Ford in 1993 and sold it last year to open Broadway Chevrolet in Louisville. He began his career in automobile sales in the early 1970s, when Rites set for businessman M.T. Gossett ue to run the transfer station. The current tax rate is $3.42 per $100 of assessed property value in the county and $3.28 per $100 in the cities. "I'm frustrated," said Ethel Spiller, a Coopertown resident who had opposed the landfill The decision had been bogged down by a dispute between County Executive Roy Apple and the county Solid Waste Committee over actual costs to set up a transfer station.

Residents remain split, with opponents fearing the environmental risks posed by a landfilL Proponents say the money saved from not going with the transfer station could be better used for schools and jail construction in the growing county. The Robertson County Commission will meet July 15 to reconsider its options for disposing of future trash. ByAJSSATOU SIDIME Staff Writer SPRINGFIELD The stifling heat of the Robertson County courtroom was an omen of the County Commission's aborted decision last night on trash disposal. Robertson County officials again sidestepped trash concerns during the special meeting to decide whether to raise property taxes by 10 for a transfer station or to welcome a controversial commercial landfill The county landfill that was originally set to close yesterday can only hold another few weeks worth of trash. State solid waste reduction laws and recent EPA liner requirements require that it be closed by mid-October.

The standing-room-only crowd watched as any decision on allowing the commercial landfill faded away when Solid Waste Committee Chairman John Darden announced that his committee had voted unanimously to withhold the landfill resolution. "As late as this morning we fully intended to present the resolution, but this afternoon we learned from counsel that it was not in the best interest of the county to bring the resolution up tonight," Darden said. The county has waged a 10-year battle to block Custom Land Development Inc. from placing the commercial landfill on 400 acres on Highway 49. Commissioners originally voted against creating a special zoning for landfills and have opposed the company for eight years in court.

The commission then shot down its second option of funding a transfer station that would temporarily store trash until a contractor could haul it away. The commission voted 14-9 against raising property taxes by 32 cents per $100 of assessed val Mr. Gossett had served as president of the Tennessee Business Men's Association, chairman of Citizens for One Government and was a chairman on the Metro Traffic and Parking Commission. He was a past potentate and president of South East Shriners Al Menah Temple Association and was a past president of the Kiwanis Club, serving on its board of directors. Survivors include a sister, Vio Mae Bonner Shelton of Beaumont Visitation will be 11 am.
