In an amplified telephone interview at the Indianapolis News Downtown Quarterbacks luncheon, McKay was asked if his present club is better than his Rose Bowl club. Answering comment that Southern Cal has a lot of speed in O. J. Simpson and others, McKay kept it terse: "Yeah. If it was a track meet I think we could win it." to be the highest salary ever paid an athlete.

NEITHER THE TERMS of the contract, nor its length were known, but the Associated Press learned it may 1 1 Danny Bradford added his name to the list with 61 yards in 10 carries. Scott Brunette had a big night for Ryan against Two Rivers, intercepting two passes and recovering a pair of fumbles. Madison's Owen Joyner became the first Ram lineman to lead the team in tackles other than Jimmy Cartwright. He got 16 against Litton but still shared honors with Jimmy who also had 16. Parade THERE'S a difference of 113 pounds between Hume-Fogg's top two players.

Put them together, and you have 361 pounds. By name, they are tackle Jimmy Mintz Hvhose massive frame records 237 pounds on the scale. The mother is halfback William But-Jler who barely ruffles the heights at 124. TOGETHER, this year, they have helped bring the Devils 'of Coach Al Dennis out of the ML's longest losing streak. Into the Howard contest, Hume-Fogg had gone 30 fames with only a pair of ties Uo show in all that time.

It's not that the Devils are on their way to a Class A They're not. In fact. trjpce a 7-0 triumph over How-; -owi, Hume-Fogg has lost three straight. But the Devils have ytlayed well and when they a i i ma i I Bowling Scor find out Mintz is one of the best linemen. I know he's the best I've had.

"Jimmy is big and strong, not fat like a lot of boys who weigh as much as he does. He's also our punter and he averages close to 40 yards per kick. And we set all our running plays up behind him." As for Butler, William has taken over since Earl Fitzgerald was hurt against Howard. Butler had 125 yards in leading the victory over the Rebs and Dennis says of him, "He carries the ball three-quarters of the time. Since Earl was hurt, everything has fallen on his shoulders.

"WILLIAM IS a likeable old boy. Someone really hits him, and he gets up smiling. He never frowns." The Devils are winning, and after three years don't you just know that makes Hume-Fogg's football team feel like it's on top of the slate. Talking about winning, Lipscomb's Jackie Davis is just as happy about the Mustangs' opening football victory a 13-7 decision over Maple-wood's team last Saturday. There's prospects of plenty more victories for the Granny White Pike school.

And Davis says, "The boys have really come around on offense. They're getting some finesse. Of course our defense, with Buck Dozier coaching it, has been pretty good this year." Junior Chris Pardue, a hard-hitting linebacker, is a big cog for the Mustang defenders. But Charlie Shaub and James Taylor had a lot of running room last Saturday. "And Ernie Smith is quite a field general," added Davis who is making Lipscomb's return to football after nearly 30 years off the field a successful one.

Dupont is still looking for its first win. but Bulldog Coach Ken Redmond says that sophomore quarterback Sonny Moore has come through well in the last few gross namDenam upwaras 01 $250,000. Apparently, however, the contract was for one year. It has been reported that Chamberlain earned more than $200,000 last year in salary with the 7fiers. He worked under a one year contract in 1966-67.

General Manager Jack Ramsay of the 76ers said Chamberlain has agreed to terms and the contract is sitting in the 76ers office waiting for Wilt to come and sign it. RAMSAY SAID he did not know where Chamberlain was, but it was believed the player had gone to the West Coast to clear up some personal matters. He said he had expected Chamberlain Monday and hoped he would show up today. The 76ers play an exhibition game at Wilkes-Barre, tonight and Ramsay said it was possible Chamberlain would play. The veers, as they have been doing during the exhibi tion season, will take Wilt bag with his playing equipment to the game.

Negotiations on Chamberlain unprecedented pact were completed over the weekend at the home of 76ers owner Irv Kos-loff. The agreement is believed to include a setup whereby Chamberlain will receive the money over a period of years for tax saving purposes, although it will be earned in the 1967-68 season. Chamberlain, who led the 76ers to the Eastern title over Boston and an eventual NBA championship victory over San Francisco, will be starting his ninth season in the league. He scored 1,956 points, paced the league in rebounds with 1,957, and set a club record of 630 assists, a league mark for a center. He raised his career point total to over 23,000 and this year should hit the 25,000 mark.

NY Sends Pair to AL NEW YORK (AP) Right winger Larry Mickey and de-i fenseman Allan Hamilton were! assigned by the National Hock-j ey League's New York Rangers i to Buffalo of the American League yesterday. Top Devils The big and little of the Hume-Fogg story is in Earl Butler, middle, and Jimmy Mintz, right. Tech Coach Al Dennis talks with Butler, a 124-pounder, the Devils' top runner, and Mintz, a 237-pound junior tackle, the man who leads Butler through opposing lines. Frank. MORTON made his decision after being tossed out of the ring and being hit by members of both teams when he got back in the ring and tried to restore order. The action came during the third fall in the tag match in which The Mummy and Dr. Frank, both masked, were substituting as replacements for Ron and Paul Dupree, who skipped the match along with manager Sam Bass. For going AWOL, the Duprees and Bass face suspensions.

The crowd of 4,271 roared its approval when the masked men crawled into the ring and gave the talented Fargo and Rossi all they wanted. The Mummy took the first fall in 11 minutes when he used a head claw on Rossi. Then Fargo swung into action and evened the match with an atomic drop. Dr. Frank was the victim.

CORA COMBS teamed with Sarah Lee to win the women's tag over Ann Jeannette and Carmen Monge. It was a one-fall affair with Combs pinning Monge in 11 minutes. The new Japanese team of Motuski Okuma and Shinya Kojika made an impressive debut by winning two of three falls from Billy Hines and Chief White Eagle. In the other bout on the card promoted by Nick Gulas and Roy Welch, Don Greene won impressively over Bull Montana, using a neckbreaker to decide the outcome after eight min utes.
