Rising prices for silver and gold and new, efficient methods of recovering the metals from ore have renewed interest in properties miners once abandoned as worthless. Hughes spokesmen in Las Vegas have declined comment on plans for the mining properties or how far he plans to expand his mining interests. DEEDS FILED with county recorders showed Hughes Tool purchases of 11 claims in the historic Comstock Lode, south of Virginia City and about 140 miles northwest of Tonopah. A survey of deeds in the Nye County recorder's office by a weekly newspaper, the Tonopah Times-Bonanza and Gold-field News, showed transfer of several properties in the Tonopah and Philadelphia mining districts to Hughes Tool. The newspaper said Hughes representatives also have taken nnlinnr nn rtrmnrt inc in noinh.
