THE TEMNESSEAN Sturly, March 4 IMS 7R FOX, Col. Robert Lloyd- U.S.A.F. HORNER, Wayne Age 24. Death Notices TSU athlete accused of raping woman in dorm By BRAD SCHMITT Stqff Writer A Tennessee State University student charged that she was raped by a football player in his dorm room early yesterday while the football player's roommate and the roommate's girlfriend were having sex several feet away, authorities said. Howard E.

House, 22, a second-string tailback for the TSU Tigers, was released last night after posting $5,000 bond on a rape charge. Neither he nor his 18-year-old accuser could be reached for comment last night House, of Jackson, told police and the Metro Night Court commissioner that he had sex with his accuser but that she had consented, police said. The incident began about 5 a.m., when the accuser went to visit her boyfriend, who lives on the same floor as House in the Boyd Hall men's dormitory on campus. The woman said she and her boyfriend had been studying for midterm tests but didnt want to go to sleep. So they decided to watch The Lion King on video In his room, she testified in Night Court.

Shortly after she arrived, though, her boyfriend got an anonymous phone call telling him that the resident assistant was checking rooms for women, who are allowed In the men's dorm only from 4-10 p.m. The boyfriend was walking the woman to the door when they ran into House in the hallway. House said he would walk her out of the dorm, and the boyfriend returned to his room. But House instead took the woman to his room after saying he thought he heard the resident assistant coming up the stairs. Once inside the room, "the victim told the defendant that she did not want to have sex," the woman wrote in the warrant charging House with rape.

"The defendant grabbed the victim's wrist and used physical force to engage in sexual penetration of the she wrote. The woman also testified in night court that House put a pillow over her face after she started saying, "No. Don! Don't Don!" House's roommate, Kenneth Perry, and his girlfriend, Shameka Washington, who testified they were in bed in the room at the time, differed on whether the sex was consensual Perry, also a Jackson, native and a longtime friend of House, testified in night court he thought the woman agreed to sex. Washington, though, testified she heard the woman protest from the beginning, but didn't take it seriously until after she saw the woman sobbing, said sex abuse detective Danny Baxter. Neither Washington nor Perry could be reached for comment last night Afterward, the accuser called her roommate, who called the boyfriend.

He then went to House's room. The accuser walked out and said: "Just take me away from here," police said. The woman contacted TSU security, who in turn called Metro police sex abuse investigators. TSU head football coach Bill Davis described House as a walk-on special teams player. "I was really shocked to hear what happened.

He's a pretty good student and a pretty good kid. But I don't really know any details." House is scheduled to receive a court date at 12:30 p.m. today. heart attack Daoth notkM or occptd by tfw Mwtpopor only from funeral homw. To plot doolh notice pttoM contact ft furwral homo of your choko.
