The top had always troubled him but about six weeks ago blood poison developed and the toe was" amputated in the hope of saving his life, but the poison had already spread through his system. The decased was a son of the Ir.ta Athel Staggs who emigrated from Kentucky in the early part of the nineteenth century and settled in Clay cour.ty in the pioneer days. The deceased had been a prominent Democratic leader of Perry township for many years and served one term as township trustee.
