In addition to taking care of the players' aches and pains, "Doc," one of the more able and popular members of his profession, serves as traveling secretary when the team is on the road. There have been times, too, when he has pitched batting practice and warmed up pitchers. "It's all in a day's work," he said. The upcoming season wil be Doc's 11th as an athletic trainer.

He began his career with the Sounds in 1978 and continued in that capacity through 1979. He has also worked for the South Stars Hockey Club and Indianapolis' and Denver's baseball teams. Sounds vs. Reds The Cincinnati Reds, parent club of the Sounds, will be at Greer Stadium Monday, April 24, for an exhibition game with their Triple-A affiliate. It will be the first time the Sounds and Reds have met.
