Fees are $7 before May 11, then $9 on race day. Registration can be made from 6:30 a.m. to race time.

Costs for the fun run are $6 and $7. The mailing address is Str, Box 895, Portland, 37148, and the phone numer is Portland Chamber of Commerce, 235-9032. RUN FOR MISSIONS: Runners will view downtown Franklin and win pies and cakes in the United Methodist Women's 5K run and one-mile run for missions on April 17. The one-mile run begins at 3 p.m. and the 5K at 3:45 p.m.

Pre-registration is race-day registration is $8. beginning at 2 p.m. It is a race for the entire family. Call Franklin First United Methodist Church, Sarah McGinley. at 794-1276.

MASTERS RACE: The Nashville Track Club will hold a Masters and Open Track and Field Meet on June 25 at 5 p.m. at the Brentwood Academy Track. And there are more races for runners ages 30 through 90, including one May 14 at Birmingham, June 1 1 at Atlanta and June 17-18 at Knoxville. For more information, contact Randall Brady at 741-7366 or 292-1919. BIATHLON: The sixth annual Lions Journey for the Sight Biathlon will be held Saturday beginning at 9:45 p.m.

The biathlon is 54K. There is also a 10K run and wheelchair race which will be held at the same time. Pre-registration deadline is April 4. For more information, contact the Lions Journey for Sight Committee (615) 893-5005. WHITEWATER RAFTING: Follow the Nashville Ski Team for camping and Whitewater rafting.

Most of the group members will leave Nashville April 22 and head to the mountains east of Jamestown. They will camp out in the Big South Fork National Recreation Area and meet at the Tobbes Hotel in Oneida, Tenn. on Saturday, April 23 at 9 a.m. and will leave for the river at 9:30. Cost is $55 for the raft trip (including lunch).

April 30 beginning with a registration at 7 a.m. The 1040K run will be run at 8 a.m. and the 1040EZ will be held at 9:15 a.m.

Entry fees are as follows: For the 1040K, $8 for pre-registration, $10 for the day of race. For the 1040EZ, $5 for pre-registation, $6 for the day of the race. BIKE ROAD RACE: The Columbia Association of Life Underwriters will hold a bike Road Race and Tour April 23 in Columbia, Tenn. to benefit Maury County Families in Action, the Road Race begins at 9 a.m.

The Tour, which is 10K-long, begins at 10:30 p.m., and the fee is pre-registration fee for the Road Race is $10, $12 for the day of the event. The tour pre-registration is $5, $6 for the day of the event. For more information, call 381-3201 or 388-1375. OLD TIMER'S DAY 5K: The seventh annual Old Timer's Day 5K Run will be held in Dickson, on May 7, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Categories are for all ages, starting with 12-and-under and going up to 60-plus.

Day of race registration for $5. BELLEVUE CLUB RUN: May 21 is the date for the Club Properties, run for health in Bellevue, beginning at the Club Apartments on Highway 70, Bellevue. The mile run starts at 7:40 a.m., the five mile at 8 a.m. Day of run registration, $8. Ages up to 60-plus.

10K CANCER RUN: A 10K main race and one-mile fun run will be held, beginning on the Square at Franklin, May 14, at 8 a.m. It will benefit the American Cancer Society. Day of the race signup. RUNNING WITH SPIRIT: The 10K run, Running With Spirit, will be at Fountain Square, Saturday, May 7, beginning at 8 a.m. under any weather conditions.

Entry fee is $8, pre-registration with the Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 5112 Raywood Lane, Nashville, 37211; or $10 at the time of race from 7 a.m. to 7:55 a.m. Categories for both men and women. TIMELY WORKOUTS: The Green Hills YMCA has a 30-minute lunchtime workout program, including low-impact aerobics and calisthenics and requiring no advance signups, and a 6:45 a.m. Early Bird workout.

Also, aerobics classes are held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and on Sunday afternoon. More information at 297-6529. STRENGTH TRAINING: Adult classes now in session at the East Nashville YMCA on Monday and Wednesday each week. Program includes use of free weights and Nautilus and Universal equipment.
