Lind, 41, began his managerial career in 1983 with Redwood in the California League, posting a 73-66 (.525) record and winning the Class A championship. He moved to Class AA in the Eastern League with Vermont in 1984, posting a 75-65 (.536) mark and winning the league crown. He returned to Vermont in 1985, again winning the championship with a 71-67 (.514) record. In 1986, Lind was elevated to GARLAND Young in 10th year as athletic trainer John Young begins his 10th year; as an athletic trainer, six of those years in baseball as trainer for the New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds farm club organizations. Young, who makes Tampa, Fla, his home in the off season, began his career with the Sounds in 1978 when they were members of the Yankee organization.

In 1980, he joined the Cincinnati Reds and worked with Indianapolis for two seasons, 1980-81, before being named trainer for the Nashville South Stars hockey team. He returned to baseball in 1985, joining the Reds' Denver American Association team and then moving on to Nashville when the franchise switched cities in 1987. fr (()) Class AAA at Denver and promptly won the league championship with a 76-66 (.535) record, but lost in the playoff series to Indianapolis four games to three. Included in the seating expansion was four new box seat sections down the right field line and 900 new seats between the dugouts. The dugouts, at playing field level in 1987, are now below field level. Improved concession stands and restrooms, added parking for an additional 1 ,000 cars, and eight new skyboxes were also included in the $3 million expansion.

Because of the expansion, the distances from home plate to the outfield fences were shortened.
