WdnUMAY 9 5. 1993 THE TENNCSSEAH 5'B Death Notices Brentwood fills out commission; voters go to polls in other cities Portland: Mayor Robert Wilkinson held onto his job. Wilkinson took 467 votes to defeat challenger and White House High School teacher Jim Calloway, who received 240 votes. Winning the fight for three at-large Portland City Council seats were the three incumbents: William (Bill) Caudill, with 530 votes; Ernest Jones, with 384 votes; and Robert Shannon, with 351 votes. The challengers were Bobby Aus-brooks, who claimed 281 votes, Ronnie Meadows, 271, and Melvin West, 141.

Millersvllle: Citizens voted to increase the number of city commissioners from three to five, and elected four commissioners. The vote was 199 for expanding the commission and 54 against The four new Millersvllle commissioners and their vote totals are By PEYTON JOBE State Writer BRENTWOOD A new guard was ushered in last night as a trio of political newcomers was elected to fill three vacancies on the Brentwood City Commission. Bob Higgs, Joe Reagan and Regi-na Smithson tallied the highest votes among the five candidates who ran for the seats. Higgs topped all candidates with exactly 1,000 votes, followed by Smithson, 899, and Reagan, 832. Candidates Tom Hennesy and Jim Warpinski finished fourth and fifth with 749 and 265 votes, respectively.

Only 1,414 voters, about 12 of the city's 12,000 registered voters, turned out for the election. "I think the five of us will make a great team," said Reagan, referring to the three new commissioners and Commissioner Joe Sweeney, who also serves as mayor, and Commissioner Anne Dunn. Higgs, Reagan and Smithson will replace Commissioners Jack Fletcher, Alex Noble and Betty Reagan, all of whom announced earlier this year they would not seek second terms. Higgs, 46, of 8207 Glover Court, works as a technical director for-Ogden Environmental, an energy services company. He is a member of the Brentwood Tree Committee and the Brentwood Historic Trust, and has been an assistant scoutmaster for Troop 86 for the last five years.

Reagan, 65, of 1611 Gordon Petty Drive, 1991 recipient of the Brentwood Volunteer of the Year award, now chairs the city's park board and co-chairs the Brentwood Community Playground Committee. His wife is outgoing city Commissioner Betty Reagan. Smithson, 49, of 116 Suffolk Crescent Drive, is now a homemaker and part-time partner in the family's financial services business. She served previously on the City Commission after being appointed in September 1989 to complete the unexpired term of former Commissioner Ron Straub.
