PHILLIPS-ROBINSON DIRECTORS 1 30 Lost DOG black white 3 "The fact that Tennessee returns a good percentage is a definite plus," Ward said. "We did lose some important players, like T.D.

Woods and Eric Still on offense, but this year there will be eight returnees on defense and nine on offense, with many good quality players who can step in," he added. One factor weighing against the Vols is a tougher schedule, which includes not only Colorado, but also perennial powerhouses Notre Dame and SEC rivals Alabama and Auburn. The fate of the squad could lie in the hands or feet of running back Chuck Webb. Webb appears ready to rejoin the team in the fall after missing spring practice due to an academic suspension. "Webb is the key," Ward said.

"It's very important to the team that he plays. He's one of the great running backs in the United States and last year he gained more yards than any other UT freshman." Ward stresses though, that the 1990 club will not be one-dimensional. "The team has a lot of other weapons," Ward added. "Andy Kelly will be more mature and there is a load of good, quality receivers. The offensive line has four starters returning, also."
