Death Notices Trevecca speech professor James linear dies at 46 James Arnold Knear, 46, 400 Jessie Drive, associate professor of speech at Trevecca Nazarene College, died yesterday In Southern Hills Hospital after a heart attack. Services will be 3 p.m.

Mr. Knear was a graduate of Trevecca and received his master's degree in speech and mass communications from the University of Missouri and Tennessee State University, respectively. He taught at Trevecca for one year in 1967, before moving to Florida and serving as a home missionary there. He returned to Trevecca in 1978 as an associate professor of speech, and also served as the school's director of the speech team until 1988.

The same year, he won an award given by the school for teaching excellence. In 1986, Mr. Knear was named as Trevecca's speech department chairman, serving in that capacity until last year. Survivors Include his wife, Sharon D. Knear; a son, Christopher J.

Knear, Nashville; his mother, Creola Faye Doming; his stepfather, Norbert Doming, both of Covington, three sisters, Louise Golds Berry, Batavla, Ohio, Denlse Wallsberger, Covington, and Judy Oster, Florence, a brother, Paul Knear, Waldorf, and a stepbrother, Norbert Doming Covington. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Trevecca Nazarene College Scholarship Fund.
