The three Macon County men were allegedly slain last Sept 3 after they drove onto Ward's farm, reportedly to pilfer a supply of marijuana kept on the property. The Clarksville City Council in an informal session yesterday, discussed a pay plan for city employees in preparation for a second vote on the measure Thursday night The plan, drafted by Councilman Jones, is an alternative to a plan drawn up last fall by a Lexington, consulting firm. The Lexington company's plan was rejected twice earlier by the council before Jones' plan was adopted at last month's council meeting. Councilman David Nussbaumer said Jones plan differs from the earlier proposal in that it grants all city employees a raise, instead of awarding pay increases only to those employees considered "underpaid." "The Jones plan does bring pay levels in some departments, like the fire andlwlice departments, up more than others," said Nussbaumer, who represents the police department on the city council. Thursday's vote will be the second of three required to formally adopt the measure, which Nussbaumer said (js expected to pass by a wide margin. prison term Collins is expected to tes a Htoca tify as a state witness against the Wards, Thompson said.

Approximately 1,000 area residents have been summoned as prospective jurors. The jury selection process for Jerry Ward's trial is expected to last at least through Thursday, Thompson said. "The selection process might be a little difficult because everybody in this county pretty much knows every body else," Thompson said. Thompson said he could not com ment on specifics of the cases, but the victims' bodies had reportedly been buried in shallow graves inside a barn on Ward's farm.
