ELLIS FUNERAL HOME, Directors 6 Franklin THE TENNESSEAN, For Palm By W.A. REED Tennessean Religion News Editor FRANKLIN, Tenn. Six Franklin churches briefly united yesterday for the first time and marched together in the first annual "Palm Sunday Parade" to the Franklin City Square. Leading some 400 persons in the parade was a riderless donkey, smybolizing the donkey that Jesus rode into Jerusalem centuries ago. CHILDREN MARCHED on each side of the donkey in yesterday's parade.

Next came the choir of First Baptist Church, wearing green robes and holding palm branches. Members of the churches walked to a place where a ment to "Our Confederate Soldiers" stands. The tall statue was Winston W. Tynes, 64, Radio Evangelist, Dies MCMINNVILLE, Tenn. Winston W.

Tynes, 64, a widely known Church of Christ minister and radio evangelist, died early yesterday morning in Nashville's St. Thomas Hospital. He had been in declining health in recent months and had been fined to the hospital the past week. Services will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Bethany Church of Christ here with burial in Bethany Cemetery.

The body is at High's Funeral Home here. A Missouri native, Tynes was minister of Central Church of Christ here from 1959-1968. At the time of his death, he was minister of Bethany Church of Christ, a post he had held since the early 1970s. Known as one of the area's most effective fund-raisers for church and youth projects, he was a leader in the establishment in the 1960s of Camp Child, a Christian summer camp near Altamont, Tenn. In association with several leading Tennessee businessmen, he later led in the formation of National Youth Camps a non-profit organization serving disadvantaged youth.

Tynes established in 1968 a national radio evangelism network, Tell You the Truth Broadcasts, with New Orleans station WWL as the broadcast flagship. He was also publisher of the companion Tell You the Truth Newsletter. In addition to his pulpit duties, he had held preaching assignments in Missiouri, Florida, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Indiana. He was married to the former Lola Warner, a North Carolina native who survives. Other survivors include a son, Bill Tynes, McMinnville; two daughters, Judy Warren of Kentucky and Kay Wells, McMinnville; two brothers, Jack Tynes of Orange Park, and Dorsey Tynes, Nashville; two sisters, Dorothy Fugitt, Jefferson and Charlotte Adams, New Jersey; and seven grandchildren.

Monday, April 5, 1982 Churches Unite Sunday Parade placed there Nov. 30, 1899, by the Franklin chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy. On the grassy plot surrounding the statue, tulips and dogwood trees are in bloom. A hymn arose from the group as it marched "Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, with the cross of Jesus, going on before." AT THE SQUARE, Ron Shuff's band accompanied the singers. The Palm Sunday ceremony was brief.

The First Baptist choir led in the singing of another hymn: "All hail the power of Jesus's name! Let angels prostrate fall; Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown him Lord of all." The Rev. Edward K. Beckes, minister of First Presbyterian Church, read from the Book of Mark a passage which tells of Jesus Christ's sending two disciples into the town of Bethany to find a colt. When they returned with the animal, Jesus mounted it and his parade to Jerusalem began. DR.

HAYDEN Center, pastor of Walker Memorial Baptist Church, gave a prayer which said: "We thank you for providing for us a courageous and compassionate Jesus who went to Jerusalem a long time ago. We pray that this occasion today will provide a good witness for all." The Rev. George Jones, minister of First United Methodist Church, gave the benediction. Center said the idea for a Palm Sunday parade in Franklin came from Americus, where he formerly was pastor. "Several of us started talking about having a parade and we came up with Center explained.

St. Philip Catholic Church provided the palm branches for yesterday's parade. The other church participating was Friendship United Methodist. Margaret Bowens Wilson Services for Margaret Bowens Wilson, 49, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Springfield, Tenn.
