NEWS OF NEIGHBORS, VISITS AND HAPPENINGS IN KATY THE TIMES Hometown newspaper of Brookshire and Katy, Texas Thursday, November 25, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Andrew were in Dallas last week attending the Farm Bureau Convention. Their four children were guests in the home of the Gene Andrews' while they were gone. Mr.

and Mrs. Gene Andrew were deer hunting in Columbus last Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. B. F.

Metzger and Mrs. Floyd Beckendorff motored to Lake Charles, Louisiana last Wednesday. They brought back with them Mrs. Harris, mother of Mrs. Metzger.

She will be visiting the over the Thanksgiving holidays. Glenn Beckendorff was hunting last weekend at Ridge, Texas. He came came back with a 7 point deer. Congratulations! Little Marian Fly celebrated her fourth birth- dav last Friday with ice cream and cake. Besides her family, those helping her celebrate included the Floyd Beckendorff the Bobby Flys.

Pvt. Earl Morgan is home on ten day leave from Ft. Polk, Louisiana. He is visiting his mother, Mrs. Cora Morgan, and his many friends.

Lynn Peek got a 6 point buck the first of the season. Hunting with him were his dad, Calvin Peek, Jerome Peek, A. J. Peek, Donald Meier and Randy Carpenter. Some of the others got shots and missed, and one just froze when a big buck came close by couldn't shoot.

Willis Hicks took his son, Jimmy, deer hunting over the weekend. They saw two deer at their pasture near Hempstead. Mrs. Jessie Biggerstaff of Houston visited Mrs.

Nell Arnold and the Jeff Arnold family over the weekend. She came especially to see and hear the Katy Band in which Leonard Arnold is a member. N. R. Ellington is doing fine at home now, following eye surgery.

Vickie Greene is home from the hospital recovering from surgery. Good to see Herschel Poorman, Sr. out and about town some. Mrs. John Bloomfield is employed as church secretary at the Katy First Baptist Church.

Joe -Zubik spent the weekend with cousins in Needville and came to I Katy to see friends Saturday morning. He looks good and is anxious to complete his treatments at the hospital at Galveston. Maple Pollard is back in Katy High School teaching his industrial arts classes. He was out several weeks due to a broken collar bone. Visiting at home with the Gtirney Millers for Thanksgiving weekend will be the Buzzy Millers and daughter, Leslie of Corpus Christi.

Ira L. Southard is in Hermann Hospital. No i si are allowed; prayers are appreciated. He took his brother, Ray to the deer pasture at Leakey and became ill. His son David brought him to the hospital Sunday morning.

Clara Hare is at home visiting her mother and family while on a two weeks vacation from Adrian, Michigan. She has been working with ex- migrants in the domestic Peace Corps and will continue as a VISTA Volunteer until August 1st. All of Mr. Pat Swoge- tinsky's family plan to be with him for Thanksgiving. Mahlon and Mary Ann Swogetinsky and children Steve and Mary Lou will come from Laurel, Miss; Patsy will come from Galveston; Dorothy and Allen Collins from El Campo; Carolyn and Curt Roorda from Waco; Myra and Bob Millard and boys, Mike and Richard from Nassau Bay, Houston; plus the Katy residents, Betty Swogetinsky, Lawrence Erna Swogetin- sky and family, Mark, Linda and Julie.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Julie Swogetinsky has been at home on the sick list for the past three weeks. Mrs. James Chandler has been home from the hospital for 10 days and is doing fine. Mr.

and Mrs. Robertson, Rocky and Bruce spent the weekend in Kerrville deer hunting. Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Joe Conlan of Denton will spend Thanksgiving weekend with her parents, the Perry Robert- sons.

Mr. Mrs. Sid Creech and Mrs. Fred Rylander attended the funeral services for Mrs. Caroline Schattel, at Wharton Tuesday.

Mrs. Schattel was the mother of Mrs. Jim Dilorio. Card of Thanks I'd like to thank everyone for the cards, gifts and visits when I broke my ami. I really did appreciate it.

Kathy Bishop MRS. CARL WRIGHT AND TRIPLETS Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wright, of Sealy are the proud parents of triplets born November 15th in the Bellville Hospital. The babies are Jesse Edward, James David and Jennifer Ann the one in the center.

The Wrights have four other children, Carlene 16, Patsy 15, Wayne 14, and Carl Ray 2 Carl's uncle Roy Wright lives in Brookshire. The only other known triplets in the Sealy area were the Schluens girls, who are now 50 years old. They are now Mrs. Ralph Schroeder of Sealy, Mrs. Raymond May of Freeport, and Mrs.

Celeste Meissner of Bellville, formerly of Brookshire. KATY Personal Mention Mrs. Lonnie Grawunder entered Methodist Hospital November 19th for surgery on her back. R. E.

and Mrs. Buck Harwell New Home Mr. and Mrs. Buck Harwell are enjoying a beautiful new brick home in Glenbrook Addition in 15 i e. Andrew Highrabedian was the builder.

A wood shingle roof was chosen to go with the Old Milwaukee blend brick. A permanently fenced back yard, paved walks, driveways, and curl) and gutter complete the finished, neat appearance of the exterior. The front has a covered porch with the entrance marked by an Earl American screen ctour. The living room has gold carpel and wheal color walls. Mrs.

The room opens tu a large covered paliu which is also accessible from the utility room. The spacious utility has aqua walls and is fitted fur a complete Mr.

Harwell chose a canary color bath with dark green curtains fur this area. The shaped kitch- en is separated from the family room by a bar and desk. The kitchen has cantalopue formica tops un the beautiful cabinets and coppertone Hotpoint Electric appliances which compliment the mahogany paneling. Adjoining is the eating area which features a built-in china closet. The drapes are oi' a a and brown Early American print.

The same pattern of cor- lon was continued from the family room. Gold Carpet was used in the three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a color walls and Royal blue, aqua and green print drapes. Two large clusels serve the room. The bath has beige tile and matching walls for ease in changing color scheme with accessories.

Kathryn's room is off-white with a nursery print being used for the curtains. Gerald's room is paneled in mahogany and a sportscar print adds to the decor for the little gentleman. Throughout the home Mrs. Harwell has large clusets for storage and convenience. The home is centrally heated and cooled.

The President elect, Bruce Turner, was selected by secret ballot by the entire student body the previous week.

Garage Sale Nets $120 For MOD The Twentieth Century Club's garage sale, held Saturday, November 20 was a wonderful The proceeds totaled $120.08, and this amount will be sent to the March of Dimes to aid in conquering birth defects. Merchandise sold at the sale was donated by members of the club and interested citizens of the community. The committee members heading this service project were Joy Thompson (c a i a n), Pat Hoyt, Gwen Taft, Madelyn Sue Tyler and Su.si Freeman. The club members each worked an hour, the day of the sale. A door prize consisting of groceries contributed by Dube's, West Side and Mid-Way was won by Dora Guzman.

They appreciate everyone who pitched in and helped, especially Mr. Mrs. Sloan, Hetty Murry, liertye and Melvin Jordan and to the entire city of Katy for their outstanding Katy PTAers Attend State PTA Convention "We the PTA Participate in the Community Story" was the theme of the 1965 State Parent- Teacher Convention in Corpus November 17-19th. Jean Harris, Agua Dulce, second vice president, and Mrs. Bill Leadbetter, Donna, recording secretary. Many people of this area are going in to hear Evangelist Billy Graham. On Monday, Tuesday, nights a 39 passenger bus took people from the Katy First Baptist Church. Rev.

Stewart reports Katy people used 100 reserved seat tickets Tuesday. Mrs. H. E. Jordan is in New Herman Hospital J.

M. Buchanan is in Sugar Land Hospital. Mrs. Joe Mikeska was in the hospital for a few days. Missionary L.

and Mrs. John L. McDonald of 1006 Dollins Avenue, Katy, Texas, has been promoted to airman first class in the U. S. Air Force.

Airman McDonald is a finance specialist at Clark AB, Philippines. He is a member of the Pacific Air Forces, America's overseas air arm in Southeast Asia, the Far East and Pacific. The airman is a graduate of Katy High School. His wife, Melva, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
