The geological report on the Florida is all to the good and those who want to take up leases had better do it right away, for it is honestly believed by a number of people that oil in paying aquantities will be struck within the next 200 feet. Mr. Nelson, a noted geologist, was in the city this week, and, while the Florida is wildcat territory, still he woud not be surprised if oil is hit right away, and he has cautioned the drillers there to go under control from now on. Get your lease, people, for the sale is subject to concelation at any time, and then, should you fail to provide yoursef with a lease, you would always have it in for yourself after the Florida comes in a big paying well. He, too, is an efficient man and is making for himself a record that is enviable. C. H. Johnson and J- S. Baylor are jaileis and jail guards, and is is said of them that even the prisoners love them.

There is a joke going the rounds to this effect: It is told that Mr. Davis brought in a new prisoner the other night and turned him over to Mr. Johnson to take up stairs and lock up. In a few minutes he came back down with his prisoner and told Mr. Davis he wanted to let the man go.

Mr. Davis was terribly surprised and inquired the reason, whereup Mr. Johnson said: Ive got 17 prisoners up stairs and every one of them is innocent, for they say they are, and this new man tells me he is guilty, and I don wrant that man running with niy innocent prisoners to contaminate them.
