1 Captain McNeer Stricken After a Lingering Captain William Preston MeNeer, retired army officer and of Mrs. William P. Dillon, of this city, died Saturday night at Walter Reed General Hospital in Washington, D. after a lingering illness. Captain McNeer was the son of the late William Richard and Laura Anderson MeNeer, of Lynchburg, Va.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at Myers Chapel, Arlington Cemetery, Washington, with full military honors, and interment will be in Arlington. Surviving Captain McNeer are two sisters, Mrs. Cordelia Brown, of Washington, D. and Mrs. Dillon, of this city, and a brother, Mr.

E. F. McNeer, of Elkin. Mrs. Dillon left Sunday for Washington, D.

Edwards Taken by Death Mr. William Herbert Edwards, 75, 8 retired farmer of Cool Spring township died Sunday morning at 10 o'clock at his home in Cool Spring. Funeral services for Mr. Edwards will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock from the chapel of the Johnson Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. H.

E. Lackey, pastor of Concord Methodist church in Catawba county. Interment will be in the Concord Methodist church cemetery. Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, the former Miss Minnie Moses; a son, William Ralph Edwards, of Winston-Salem, and three daughters, Miss Faye Edwards, Mrs.

McCoy Rountree and Mrs. James E. Norfolk, all of Washington, D. and two brothers. John Edwards, of Newton, and Ed.

Doughton might also reveal his future political plans at the meeting.

Mr. Kizziah said it was also cxpected that a large number of women who are affiliated with the party would attend the rally. MONDAY, OCTOBER 20, 1947 THE Mrs. G. B. Claimed by Death B. Ketchie, widow Mrs.

George of the late G. B. Ketchie, died Sunday afternoon at the home of Herbert Ketchie, in her son, Mr. Mt. Ulla.

She was 86 years old. Surviving are six children, a number of grandchildren and one great-grandchildren. Funeral after- services will be held Tuesday noon in Mt. Ulla and interment will be in the cemetery of the Back Creek church. Ketehie was an aunt of Mrs.

Frank, A. and T. W. Messrs. Byers had visited here frequently in the homes of her nephews.

Efird of Anson county. He opened the Efird store in Rock Hill, S. in 1912, and in 1913 organized the Durham store, and served 'as its manager until he left to serve in World War I. He later came to Charlotte and was elected vice president and merchandise managet of all the Efird stores. Surviving Mr.

Efird are five sisters, Mrs. Laura E. Harris of Concord, Mrs. Annie E. Shankle and Mrs.

Bernice E. Turner of Anson county, Mrs. Bronnie E. Foreman of Salisbury, and Mrs. Nell E.

Denning of Albemarle; and three brothers, Joseph B. Efird and Paul H. Efird of Charlotte and Sam M. Efird of Norwood; two daughters, Miss Vada Mae Efird and Miss Mary Ann Efird; and one son, Jasper W. Efird, Jr.

Two other brothers, Ed L. Efird of Winston-Salem and J. R. Efird of Columbia, S. C.

preceded him in death. Efird's Statesville store was closed today in respect to Jasper W. Efird. Mr. Efird's funeral was held this afternoon in Charlotte.
