FIRST METHODIST CHURCH L. Thurston, minister Jesus, The Savior is the subject of the morning seimon for next Sunday at the First Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Coon returned Monday from a five weeks vacation trip on which they visited the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Cra- ter Lake, Mount Rainier and Glacier and Yellowstone Natiuiial Parks. Mrs. J.

W. Phillips has returned Horn a visit in Albuquerque with her daughter, Mrs. Bill Bailey. Miss Arlene Deckert accompanied her grandmother home. Nine Deming golfers played in the annual Nausau tornament at Las Cruces Sunday.

Those attending the meet were Godfrew Trowbridge, Pobtelie Harvey Cook, Bob Pearce, Charles Hughes, Rosie Smyer, Paul Kimball, Boone Evans and H. D. Stutts. GORDON FERRELL Funeral services were held in Doming yesterday for Gordon Fulliagton Ferrell, age 11, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Ray Ferrell of Medford, Oregon, who was accidently shot Monday at the Edgar May ranch. Gordon had been visiting his uncle, Edgar May. His mother will be remembered here as Miss Emma May. GRADUATES FROM U. S.

NAVY FLYING SCHOOL Joe Richardson, son of Mrs. Grace Richardson, former Deming High School commercial teacher, was graduated from the U. S. Navy Flying School last week, and has been commissioned an Ensign in the Naval Reserve. Ensign Richardson is a D1IS graduate.

Mike Sotniski, Mrs. J. B. Wells, son Mitchell, and Misses Riordan and Paxton left this week for Colorado. Mrs.

Wells and son will visit relatives in Colorado Springs, the others going on to Denver. Mr. and Mis. Roy Evans have as guests, Mrs. Evans sister, Miss Mae Louise Cline, of Houston, Texas, and mother, Mrs.

R. W. Cline, of Duncan, Oklahoma. Mr. and Mrs.

Raymond Reed have moved to Deming from Ila-chita and have rented W'. Evans house at the corner of Pine and Nickel streets. Mr. Reed is the new principal of Deming High School. Mr.

and Mrs. Fletcher Bowman have as their guests, Mr. Bow-mans sister-in-law, Mrs. V. W.

Bowman and niece Martha Nell Bowman, of Albuquerque. Russell Ackley has moved from 520 Souh Silver to 115 North Copper. Mrs. Chailes Ohman and daugln tec, Betty Jean, returned to Bern ing this-week after -spending the past year with relatives at Kenosha, Wisconsin. Mr.

and Mrs. E. V. Norton and son left Thursday fur Florida to make their home. Maik Kennedy of For Worth visited relatives in Deming the past week.

Mrs. D. T. Walker is spending today in El Paso. Rincon Robbery Suspect Arrested In El Paso Sunday Jack West, aged 23, was arrested Sunday morning in El Paso on a felony warrant and was charged with The robbery of the Rincon postoffice last Thursday, night.

The robbery was discovered by Postmistress Ruth Dorbandt Ware when she opened the postoffiee Friday morning. The safe had been opened and $56.99 had been taken. West waived extradition and was returned to New Mexico by Dona Ana county sheriff Joe Yira-montes and Deputy Jack Robinson. He is being hold in jail in Deming awaiting trial. MILL JOIN AVY In the quota selected for enlistment in the U.

S. Navy for the month of August will be found three young men from Deming. They will he enlisted August 8 and sent to the U. S. Naval Training Station at San Diego, California to complete their training and then sent to the various units tf the Pacific fleet.

The week proceeding the opening of school has been designated -as registration week for the high school students. Each pupil in the high school is asked to visit the principals office during that week to consult with the principal concerning his schedule of classes for the semester.

Tuesday, August 29 will be reserved for registration of Seniois. Wedsesday for Juniors, Thursday for Sophomores and Friday for Freshmen. Every student is urged to go to the principals office on the proper day so that he may be assured of being able to take Jhe jourses he desires.
