"We have some solid running backs but I think I have a pretty good chance to sticking." Groves said he played "as much as any of the running backs" in a public intrasquad scrimmage last Saturday.

"I was in about 30 of the 80 plays the offense ran and I think I did a pretty good job of executing," he said. "That's one of the things the coaches look for. I did fumble on one play, but other than that it was a good scrimmage for me." Groves is aware that he will have a chance to impress scouts from other teams even if he does not manage to stay with the Dolphins. "I've learned that there's always somebody watching you," he said. "If I do a good job for the Dolphins but still get cut, there's always the chance that somebody else will pick me up." If Groves plays today, he will likely run into a former teammate, Dennis Harrison.

Harrison is a rookie defensive end with the Eagles and is expected to see considerable action. Former Vandy defensive backs Brenard Wilson and Reggie Calvin are also in the Philadelphia camp. The respective coaches, Don Shula of the Dolphins and Dick Vermeil of the Eagles, said yesterday they will start all veterans in the 2:30 p.m. (CDT) game, which will be televised nationally by ABC, Channel 2 locally. Shula said he establishes goals in the preseason and then evaluates each player.on the basis of his performance in the games.

One player he will evaluate thoroughly today is running back Delvin Williams, who was picked up in a trade with San Francisco during the off-season. Veteran Bob Griese will start at quarterback for the Dolphins and Ron Jaworski will get the nod for the Eagles. Prior to the game, Weeb Ew-bank, Lance Alworth, Larry Wilson, Ray Nitschke and Tuffy Lee-mans will be enshrined into the Hall of Fame. Former Tennessee All-American wide receiver Larry Seivers has been cut by the Green Bay Packers, marking the fourth time Seivers has been cut over the past two years. Seivers told friends prior to the start of training camp that this would be his last shot at professional football.

He will likely return to East Tennessee now and concentrate on another career. l((( a 4 ii Tftal 1 1 Total New York IN IM (-1 M9 (99 (U I 4 17 9 14 9 Total 29 14 1 Total KEEP THAT GREAT GM FEELING WITH GENUQIE GM PAJiTS.
