McGuire's most recent Broadway appearance was in the starring role in the Pulitzer Prize-winning "That Championship Season," for which he received the Outer Circle Critics Award and the Drama Desk Award for his performance as James Daly. The actor's Advent Theater visit marks one of his rare regional theater appearances, due largely to the opportunity to work with director Gruenewald again. McGuire can be seen nightly through May 27 at the Advent Theater, playing Murray Burns, the unemployed scriptwriter who pits his off-beat humor against the welfare department in an effort to avoid returning to the weird world of kid show comedy for Chuckles the Chipmunk.
