Gonzalez turned down a draft offer by the Detroit Tigers in 1992, deciding to attend college.

That summer he played for the Cincinnati's Midland Redskins, which won the Connie Mack World Series. In the championship game, Gonzalez hit two grand slams to break an all-time tourney record for RBIs. As a UK freshman, Gonzalez was named to Mizuno's first-team Freshman Ail-American squad. Golf Pro golfers have youth clinic The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will sponsor a youth golf mini-clinic from 2 to 5 p.m. April 23 at the Practice Tee on River Road. The starting outfielder has stolen 12 bases in 13 tries during 23 games. Wyman is batting .282 with 22 hits and, as Wyman of last week, led the team in runs scored with 25.

Cora Conn, a 1992 North Bullitt High School graduate, posted strong statistics in her second season with Indiana State University's basketball team. Although an ankle sprain in Missouri Valley Conference tourney action ended her season, Conn averaged 5.9 rebounds per game, ninth-high in the conference, and her 74.8 free-throw percentage ranked seventh. Conn, a starter, led Indiana State in free throws made (119) and attempted (159).
