By EARL COX The 1950i were good years for Flaget's football teams and Kentucky's high-school coaches have just confirmed it. In addition to choosing the All-State team and Coach of the Year, the state's 146 prep coaches this year were asked to vote on three other things: the best team of the 1950's, the coach who did the most outstanding job during the 10-year span and the player who was most outstanding during that time. The coaches' choices: Team of the Decade Flaget's 1952 state champions. Coach of the Decade Paulie Miller of Flaget. Player of the Decade Quarterback Paul Hornung of Flaget.

With Tommy Finnegan scoring 23 points and grabbing 12 rebounds and Tom Deeken making 22 points and capturing 13 rebounds, Flaget hit 36 per cent of its shots and led all the way to hand Maysville a rare floor loss by 58-32. Flaget owned two 13-point leads in the third period, but a press enabled Maysville to cut its deficit to 5047 in the last quarter. regular. Average grades. Has signed with U.K. First Owensboro All -Stater since halfback Charlie Sturgeon in 1956. SHERMAN LEWIS If colleges played platoon football now, this 158-pounder who deals in speed would be forced to fight off the scouts.

As it is, he has U.L., Wisconsin and Cincinnati interested in him. His 162 points set a new Louisville scoring record this season (he also set a City junior varsity record his sophomore year with exactly the same number; he got 72 as a varsity player last year). He runs 100 yards in 10.1, is the fastest Manual player since Johnny Meihaus. Very religious. Above average student.

He is the first Negro to make All-State in football. DALE LINDSEY Only jun-ior on the team, this 195-pound with 125 points this season But he was perhaps even more of a standout as a bone-jarring linebacker "Finest linebacker I've ever seen," says his coach, Jim Pickens, who was last year's "Coach of The Year." He's been a regular since his freshman year. Ten schools have shown interest in him already Above average as student First Bowling Green All-Stater since guard David Mason in 1954. TOMMY GLOVER The state's most publicized player, this 5-9, 202-pound piledriver is at his best when the chips are down His 30 touchdowns this season broke Henderson record of 23 set by his coach, Don Shelton Four-year regular "Best I've ever coached," says Shelton Averaged over 10 yards per carry Excellent student president of Student led 64-52, but Stuart Yoffe and Jim Merrell fired a seven-point Atherton splurge to cut the final margin to five points. Sherman Lewis led the winners with 13, but Trinity's Continued on Page 7, Col. 5 ntOIAILY THI SIOWIST MADI SHOES IN AMERICA Continued from Page 1 rugged best on defense. A three-regular, Lee is a well-mannered boy who is respected by his classmates for his hard work. He signed with U.K. BOB WADDLE Somerset's first All-Stater since tackle Marion Prather in 1950, Waddle has been a regular for three years.

Above average as a student, he has signed with U.K. and will go there unless he can get an appointment to the Naval Academy. He was on the second All-State team last year. A real hardnose, he is the smallest lineman on the team at 180 pounds. In fact, three of the four All-State backs outweigh him.

A guard on offense, he was a terror as middle linebacker for Jim Williams' Briar-jumpers. JIM WHITIS Only the sec ond All-Stater in the history of his school, Whitis has been a standout for three years. Defensive middle guard, he made 25 tackles against Shelbyville in the Burley Bowl. Stands 5-10 and weighs 205. He has good speed.

Schools showing interest in him are U.K., Purdue, Eastern and Western. Eastern has the best chance to get him. His coach is Kenny Arnold. Only other Fern Creek All-Stater was tackle Marion Morgan in 1936. PETE DUDGEON The shy, silent type, this rock-hard 198-pounder was the key to Manual's great defense.

Has the ability to "smell a play." Also unusually good on offense and pass defense, Dudgeon is rated the Big Red's finest center in over 20 years. Above average as a student, he was a starter for two years. Like Wright, nearly everyone wants Dudgeon. Both of them are visiting Alabama this weekend. RICHARD ANDERSON Only 16, the 195-pounder still has lots of room for improvement and is potentially one of the finest quarterbacks the state has produced.

"He's the best quarterback I've ever seen," says his coach, Ralph Genito. Tops both as a runner and passer, he was handicapped because he played Seneca 44 Atherton it Flatet it Maysville 52 pf. Plsyer fgft.pf. Player ff.ft. fg.ft.pf.
