Dorothy Phillips. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at G.C. Williams Mortuary, 1935 W. Broadway, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

The body will be at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Sunday. Otis Prather, 73, Bloomfield, died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday at his home. He was a retired farmer and a direcat Peoples State Bank of Chaplin tor, Highview Cemetery.

He was a member of the Chaplin Christian Church. include his wife, the former survivors, Shields; two daughters, Kim Prather and Mrs. David Bunch, both of Lexington; two sons, Dewayne and Prather, both of Chaplin, and four grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Houghlin Funeral Home, Main Street, Bloomfield, with burial in Highview Cemetery in Chaplin.

Wood Road to be closed for sewer construction The Jefferson County Department of Public Works Road will and close Wood Road Lane between Terry Memory ginning at 8 a.m. tomorrow. The road will be closed for four months for sewer construction, according to James N. Birch, works director. Mrs.

Margie Ann Bundy Sampson, 87, of 4309 S. Third died at 7:50 p.m. Friday at Christian Church Home, 942 S. Fourth St. She was a native of Barren County and a member of South Louisville Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Helen Roberts, of Asheville, N.C., and Mrs. Connie Campbell, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at 0.

D. White Sons Funeral Home, 2727 S. Third with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Mrs. Marion Vincent Schmitt, 61, of 3429 Larkwood died at 7:35 p.m.

Friday at St. Joseph Infirmary. She was the former Agnes E. Edelen, a native of Louisville. Survivors include three daughters, Miss Betty Ann Schmitt, of Connecticut, and the Misses Marian T.

and Marie B. Schmitt, and two sons, Donald V. and Joe E. Schmitt. The funeral will be at 10 a.m.

Monday at St. Columba Catholic Church, 3514 W. Market with burial in St. Michael Cemetery. The body is at Ratterman's, 2114 W.

Market St. Mrs. Esther Smiley, 84, Shelbyville, died at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at a nursing home in Knoxville, Tenn. She was a member of the Clay Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Williams of Knoxville and Mrs. Willie O'Bannon, and a brother, Norman Stone. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Calvary Cemetery in Shelbyville.

The body will be at Saffell Funeral Home in Shelbyville after 6 p.m. Tuesday. Damon John Spade, 69, of 4115 S. Second died at 4 p.m. Friday at Churchill Downs, apparently of a heart attack, according to authorities.

He was a native of North Vernon, and a retired sheetmetal worker at the International Harvester where he had worked for 20 years until his retirement in 1967. Survivors include his wife, the former Evelyn McGraff, and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Rose McKinney. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Name Catholic Church, 2914 S.

Third with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be at Ratterman's, 2815 S. Fourth after 2 p.m. Sunday. deaths noon Sunday.

Mrs. Andrew W. Steier, 83, of 1033 Mulberry died at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Hospital.

She was the former Edna Munninghoff. Survivors include two sons, Earl T. and Elmer A. Steier: five grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m.

Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 1020 E. Burnett with burial in St. Michael Cemetery. The body will be at Russman Son Funeral Home, 1041 Goss after noon Sunday.

Michael F. Thornsberry, 69, of 5508 Applegate Lane, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday at his home. He was retired maintenance foreman at Sealtest Foods, where he had worked for 34 years until his retirement in 1970, and a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Elsie Hart; two sons, Michael H. and Joseph M. Thornsberry, and four grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Arch L.

Heady Okolona Funeral Civic leader Mrs. Hortense Houston Young dies Mrs. Hortense Houston Young, a real estate broker, educator and civic leader, died at 1 p.m. Friday at Jewish Hospital after a long illness. Mrs.

Young, the wife of Louisville physician Dr. C. Milton Young was a former schoolteacher. She was a longtime social activist and has served on a number of city, county and state boards, including the Transit Authority of River City, the Board of Zoning Adjustment Appeals, the Community Action Commission, the Kentucky Commission on Public Education and the Housing Authority of Louisville, was the old Municipal Housing Commission when she was appointed. A native of Huntsville, Mrs.

Young moved to Louisville in 1929 after her marriage to Dr. Young. She is a graduate of Fisk University in Nashville and the University of Illinois. From 1936 to 1943 Mrs. Young served as librarian and instructor at Louisville Municipal College.

She resigned that post to become feature writer for the Louisville Defender. In 1947 she was awarded the Lincoln Institute Key award by the old Kentucky Negro Education Association for outstanding service in educating blacks in Kentucky. Last year the Louisville Urban League presented its Equality Award to Mrs. Young for her work in the human Political Advertisement Sandy Twist I would like to represent you in Our States 38th Legislative District. Sunday. Tilford, of 902 Cedar Court, died Thursday at General Hospital. He was shot Wednesday evening in a parking lot on Place Vert at Village West apartments. Tilford was employed in the housekeeping department at River Region Hospital. He was a member of Greater Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Karen Daugherty; a son, Kevin G. Tilford; a daughter, Erika Tilford, and his parents, Mrs. Margaret Turner Tilford, and Roy Tilford Sr. McCarthy: Energy crisis is not a new discovery SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.

She ran unsuccessfully in 1966 for a seat on the Louisville Board of Education. She was a member of the Democratic Club of Kentucky and the Metropolitan Democratic Club of Jefferson County. She had also served on the boards of Louisville and Jefferson County Church Women United, Family and Children's Agency and the Continental National Bank of Kentucky. In 1963 she was elected president the National Association of Real Estate Brokers. Besides her husband, survivors include a daughter, Mrs.

Yvonne Y. Clark: a son, Milton Young III; a sister, Mrs. Constance H. Thompson of Houston, and five grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m.
